the course is situated in a great setting
We found the staff to be very accommodating and very friendly. The course itself is well looked after and does have a few very challenging holes as well as some that are less challenging. All in all a good course for both experienced and novice players.
Looks like someone's back yard
The fairways were horrible the greens were a joke. There were 2 different groups of 5 that refused to let our 2 some play through sat on tee #3 for 10 minutes waiting to tee off. Course is not worth your time or money.
tough course
wow... lots of water hazards. Greens are pretty tough but fun. Our day was pretty muddy. Next time we'll give it a few days to dry out. Cart path or trail needs attention. Almost got stuck in a couple of places. Staff was friendly and we did enjoy our round. Hot deal was excellent. Carts were nice.
course layout was good
course layout was good, stay on the short grass, have fun
I love it! The greens and fairways were well maintained with only a few dead areas. The tips were sub par though, and could used some better care.
I plan on being a regular customer. The staff is great and the pricing was fantastic, including the bar menu.
This course was challenging but enjoyed it
I liked the course offered a good challenge I would play it again
An average course - at best!
This remote (27 miles N of Ft. Walton Beach) course's been plagued with a very wet summer, + reflects it in muddied (not wet) thick wide-bladed 'grass' (?) + Bermuda fairways than any I've ever seen before, resulting in little, if any rollout at all. Whatever distance you hit it, that's as far as you go. Greens are extremely slow + uneven in condition. An average course - at best! Locals living nearby appear to be its best customers. Maybe drier weather/ better attendance may help the bottom line/ overall condition. Good value, nonetheless.
The course needs resod
Bahiagrass has taken over the tees and fairways. Good lie in the fairway is rare or extremely lucky. It was hard to gauge how far the ball was teed up on the tee box because they weren't mowed. If for some reason the course isn't mowed, you will lose balls in the fairway. The course doesn't drain well so be prepared to be soggy if you play after a rain. I'll keep playing there put only if I can do so for cheap. The green fees should only be $10. The whole course needs to be redone.
Great value
Lots of rain caused cart path only rule but other than that it was a great experience and bargain.
Muddy
The course had very poor conditions after raining all week. There was standing water in every sand trap at least 2 feet deep. The course should have been closed.
Great bargain for the golfer on a budget
I did the daily "hot deal", so the price was truly unbeatable. Overall, the course is a great deal for the price I paid. The greens are slow, and the cart parts need to be redone, but I can't complain. I've been playing this course for years, and it looks like they're finally starting to put some money into the course and strive for improvements.
Great price from GolfNow!
Foxwood is an older course with a small club house and pro shop, the greens and fairway were well maintained. Although not super challenging, like any course with heavy woods and water hazards this is not a very forgiving course. The hot deal on GolfNow was incredible and well worth the short trip from Destin. I will definitely play this course again and would happily recommend it to my friends.
Hackers Paradise
The layout of the course/holes was ok. However, the greens were furry (rolling at abt a 6). The fairways were horrible, but not rewarding. The rough, was not maintenced (grass uncut and uneven ard the course). On some of the holes, the fairway and rough were very comparable. If you're looking for a course to work on your game off the tee and approach shots then this is not a bad course for the money. However, if you are a competitive golfer that is looking to record a score... keep it moving.
Disappointed
course was not in good shape. fairway grass was thin, greens had been plugged and were heavily and unevenly sanded. Hazards and OB were clearly marked. cart worked well. Areas under trees were clear and playable.
This course is very poor
This is the worst golf course in the pan handle of Florida. The course needs so much work, traps, cart paths, mowing. This is like playing golf in a cow pasture. We used to pay this course when they offered price breaks. Now we woldn't play this course if it was free. It is that bad. I met a man who bragged about living on a golf course. When he told me it was Fxwood I couldn't stop laughing. Take a drive just down the road to Blackstone or drive to Fort Walton.
Poor course
Beautiful layout with terrible everything else. From the poorly patched bridges, to the weed ridden faiways and greens, this couse needs a whole lot of work.
Great play for what you pay (with GolfNow)
I like to make it here at least once a year. Always end up meeting fun people from all over the states.
Not as seen on "TV"
The course is nothing like what is shown on the internet. The fairways need a lot of work, and the greens are very poor. The club house is old and not very inviting.
Winter conditions for fairways and greens
Course should be considered rough due to time of year as fairways and greens not lush, spotty with bare patches. Very dry and hard. Might not appeal to all. Front nine a little drab, back nine more scenic. Fairways and greens rolling and sloped with some narrow fairways and approaches requiring a target golf approach. Greens were very sandy but quite fast and challenging. Tough to read on some. Very old course and gives the appearance of being run down but our party was able to look past that and enjoyed the experience.
