Plantation on Crystal River Golf
If you enjoy golf, you should play 18 holes at Plantation on Crystal River. Florida at its very best! A great challenge for any golfer.
Not the right fit for me
I wanted to like this course, but couldn't really find enough reasons to. The course was well kept. The driving range is more of an iron range. No hits more than 175 yards allowed and if you don't hit the ball straight it's going in the woods or in the fairway for the first hole. Terrible placement. The layout was a little confusing with the extra 9 holes. The color that defined the different rounds of holes was opposite what they actually were. At times there were tee boxes right next to each other for two different holes. My biggest issue with the course is if you can't hit a straight drive, which many can't, then you're losing your ball almost every time. Houses and trees hug the right side of most Fairways. The Fairways are narrow on most holes near the tee box and that's intimidating for slicers. Got rained out after 9 holes and the course was closed the next day, so I never got to finish my round.
Fun Layout, Disappointing Greens
On vacation down here from Kentucky. Chose this course because of the pictures and reviews. Arrived early and was able to get so swings in on the range. Getting loose was high priority than putting on the practice green. I wish I would’ve checked that first. Super slow greens. And it’s not because they’re losing them. They look dense enough to be cut down another 5 stimps at least. I played from the tips and it had a a great layout. Sand traps play pretty tight. Still had fun, just expected more from a $50 course in Florida.
I'm offended by the price
The gentleman in the pro shop was nice but it was downhill from there. The range was a mess, range balls caked with dirt, and course in need of care outside of the greens. I've NEVER complained about greens fees, but at $60 each they should be embarrassed. Caveat emptor.
Plantation, great value, needs rain
Played the Plantation course for first time while visiting Crystal River/Homossasa Springs. Decent Layout, good mix of left and right doglegs, good par threes. Fairways could use some grass but there’s been no rain. Greens were in very good condition putting smooth and quick on downhills.
Much improvement
Play here at least once or twice per year. It started to improve last year and it was greatly improved this season. Traps were much better sand, Greens were full. There is grass which is hard to find in the winter in Florida. Nice new pins. Staff has changed thier attitude as well to a much more friendly atmosphere.
Mostly overly wet after a rain
Many restrictions to remain on cart paths due to an overly saturated course the day before. Used the “no see em” spray sold at the clubhouse but was bitten mercilessly anyways. The course is a jewel if it hasn’t rained previously.
champ
the course played well ,greens were slow but balls stuck without leaving big marks and broke true. the coarse played long ,if you golf in the 90's use forward tees
great
people very nice. everything was great. if you,ve never played make the trip up.
Course was in good condition except there were a lot of low areas that were all mud. Also it was very difficult finding the next hole (very confusing course). Once you are used to the course I guess it wouldn't be a problem.
