Liberty National Golf Course

From the minute you pass through the big black gates and pull up the elevated driveway you can see her...Lady Liberty...off in the distance, welcoming visitors. We had two guys in the valet welcoming us, they were as friendly as could be. Behind them sits a modern, sleek, glass clubhouse, you won’t find another one like it on the planet. Inside we were greeted by the staff who could’nt be more helpful and welcoming. Trophy cases filled with presidents cup memorabilia, walls adorned with big pictures of the course, I felt like I was in a golf art gallery! Quick change of shoes, a light snack in the bar area, and off to the range. Liberty was built on an old landfill so the use of trees is scarce, which allows for views on views on views!! You can see the manhattan skyline from every hole and the Statue of Liberty gets bigger as you make your way around an immaculate course. The course is well bunkered but not over done, tall fescue and water come into play on almost every hole. The greens are pure and fast. This course doesn’t scream “I’m Hard!” but if you get caught day dreaming about NYC it will bite you. The par 3, 14th is 130ish yards, but the best photo op out there. Don’t be surprised if you get a great pic, and walk off with a double bogey! Afterwards we went to the bar area for dinner, I had a tuna wrap that may have been the best I’ve ever had! Liberty National is a high end, exclusive course, but if you get the chance to experience it don’t think twice!

Had a chance to play this over the summer as part of a corporate golf outing. What an experience. The clubhouse was a little to modern looking for my taste but the amenities are second to none. The course as you can imagine was in perfect condition. Luckily we had a four-caddie to help with balls in the tall grass. The views of the NYC skyline were awesome and clear day we took advantage of the photo opps. It cost me $500 participate but with the food, drinks, course, and experience it was well worth it to do once.
