Call before booking!!!
Booked the south course as I have not played it in a while. When I arrived and went inside to pay I was informed by the guy at the counter that I may want to play the north course instead as they just aerated the south course. NO MENTION of this on golf now. I could have played LPGA for the same price and they DID advertise that the course was just aerated! Funny that LPGA advertised that they just aerated and REDUCED the price of the round. Daytona DID NOT advertise aeration and DID NOT reduce the price of the round!! Didn't go to LPGA as I did not want to play a course that was just aerated. Some of these courses DO NOT like to advertise that they just aerated as it will reduce the amount of play.
Easy play
We were fortunate enough to be offered the back nine first which was great because we both are still beginner players and find feeling rushed takes the fun out of it. Nice people but the greens staff need a little more attention. Still good play for the money easy par 3s and the locker rooms were a nice treat! So clean and easily accessible.
Decent for a city track
Course is short, greens were soft but that's florida in June, fun layout and got around in 3 hours so no complaints from me!
Wide open course looks easyer than it is.
Course in very good shape for a muni. Will play this course again.
Daytona is well worth the time
I have been in the Daytona area for three month. we have played a lot of course and Daytona was in the bet shape. Green fairway, and wonderful greens. we encounter two maintenance people fixing divot mark. Their effort show. Beautiful putting conditions. I strongly recommend this course.
OK
If your goal is to just go out and hit the ball around, then the course is fine. Not in the best of shape but that is probably because Florida needs rain and most courses have the same problem. Good course for the guy or gal just wants to get outside and enjoy the exercise.
Nice course
Make sure you play with someone that knows the course. It is very helpful to know the nuances of the course before just jumping right out there. I was fortunate to play with 3 guys who have played there a lot and it was helpful--where the water is, where the hole takes a turn etc. Staff was very friendly and didn't balk at all about the golf-now certificate. We got off just in time as the skies opened up and rain was in abundance. But it still was nicer than shoveling snow in Wisconsin! Greens were fast, water was deep, sand traps were nice despite me being in them.
THE COURSE HAS GOOD GREENS.
FUN COURSE TO PLAY.PRO STOCKED WITH GOLF RELATED EQUIPMENT.
This course was in good shape
Good course for fair or polished players.., restaurant was not available when we played
North is better
A fairly straight forward up and back golf course. Of the two courses at this municipal facility, we thought the north was more challenging and in better shape.
Beautiful greens.....
enjoyed the Daytona South course with its well cared for greens and attentive course staff. Worth a replay anytime. Too bad everyone charges in the $40 dollar range for Winter play early hours. Otherwise no complaints whatsoever
Good for high handicappers.
Played the south course in the afternoon. Starter on duty didn't care much who I was paired with, just sent me to first tee to the try and join a twosome. Pace of play was fairly good considering the high handicappers mostly due to the lack of water and open fairways.
This is a good example if a Donald Ross design with small crowned greens offsetting the open fairways and lack of water hazards. Greens and fairways in good condition despite the heavy play this course gets. A fun afternoon overall.
Winter Golf in Daytona
The South Course at Daytona GC is my preferred layout of the two. Very open and forgiving. The conditions were as expected; fairways a little soggy from winter rains but the greens were soft and receptive. The overall condition was good and we had a very enjoyable round.
Skip this one
I played this course only because it is a Donald Ross design. I can not believe that the cities that have a Ross course allow them to go to seed...why not a Ross trail?
I have played Seminole and can see the design similarities with the greens and the bunkers. If the course was in better shape it would be fun. The women's tees were so turtlebacked that there was no flat area at all.
The greens were in better shape, but still not worth the trip. The crew were working on the bunkers, but the course needs a lot of love at this time.
The pro shop was excellent with many opportunities to leave money behind. They will even re-grip while you wait.
I hope that the city someday recognizes the old gem it has. Unless you can close your eyes and pretend that you are at the US Open, skip this one.
Typical for an older muni
south course was typical for an older muni, we did a replay on the north course, it was a nicer layout and in better condition.
You will like
I have played here many times but not since last spring.
Greens are rolling nicely. Pace of play is crazy good.
If you like to walk this is one of the best in the area. Of course, not many will allow walking so sample size is small
Usually the best people
I have been playing Pelican Bay South and North since I started playing several years ago. One of the biggest strengths is the outstanding people they hire. This last visit, was m areal shock. The young man checking people in was obnoxious. Arrogant and unprofessional. The guy checking in behind us left. We were pretty much the only people on the course. Great course to practice on, and I am sure given the quality of management a PB, I will never see that guy again.
Enjoyed this course
I was very pleasantly surprised by this golf course. Though nestled in an urban setting, it was remarkably quiet on the course. The course was well-maintained and pleasing to the eyes. For an average golfer such as myself this was a very enjoyable round of golf. The staff was very polite and helpful. All in all, I am looking forward to a return round of golf at this course!
Never again
I've played here before and had a somilar experience. Started with unfriendly staff in the pro shop throwing my change back at me. The greens were aerated so they were a challenge to putt on. We only saw the beer girl once and she had no beer or water.
Nice course at reasonable cost
Play here often. Very good experience Great course great value. Just challenging enough. Not too difficult
