Colts Neck Golf Club
About
Colts Neck Golf Club is one of central New Jersey's most popular courses. The diverse course offers everything from Scottish-style bunkers to sparkling lakes. Tall golden fescue rough borders the fairways and the greens are large and undulating. The course is seemingly short at only 6,236 yards but it shouldn't be taken lightly. It's much more challenging than it appears. The layout finishes with two of its toughest holes. The 17th has a tough green fiercely guarded by out-of-bounds and the course saved the most difficult hole for last. This par 3 will test even the most seasoned golfers. In addition to the golf course, Colts Neck also has a 25-station driving range that stays open late. It's a great spot for getting in some practice after work.

Well worth the drive
I heard that this was a nice course. We was not disappointed.
It's in great condition even now in December.
It's a nice layout but compact design. Not overly long but still a good challenge especially in the wind.
A few long par 3s.
The staff were very friendly and allowed us to get out a little early
I would definitely recommend and play this course again
Colts Beck GC
Having come off many days of rain, the course was not under water and in pretty good condition The bunkers had no pools of water and although the bottoms were firm, there was actual sand on the walls. The fairways were cart path only but very playable. The greens were a bit bumpy, but still better than newly aerated greens and certainly better than temporary greens. The layout is good in that accuracy is required but the course does not punish you if you are not perfect. 18 is a long par 3 over water and I hope the next time I play there, I’m not playing 18 with a 25 mile headwind. All in all, it was a good experience.
horrible exp
they accepted the booking and payment was made
but course was closed for weather.
I drove over an hour to get there but closed.
no notice at all, they did not cancelled by booking
took my payment and no way to get a refund of it
Winter golf
To play at this time of year is always a treat. The course conditions were what one would expect for February. I was a little concerned at the amount of divots in the fairways and the poor conditions of the tee boxes. Hopefully the grounds crew can get them in shape for the season. Greens were on great shape, even for the winter. They must be incredible during the season. Pace of play was brutal. The group in front of us stopped to look for balls on every hole, then proceeded to walk up to the green, drop a ball, chip, then putt!! To ALL (Dont come out and play golf if you can't follow golf etiquette). Then, when the ranger came around, he waved and said nothing. He didn't even slow down. Not good. If you're going to let anyone play, you may want to move the beginners along, or space out the tee times to every 12 minutes, just saying. Another thing that really irks me is, If you're going to charge $85 for a 1:36pm tee time, IN THE WINTER, don't keep telling me i have to have the cart in at 4:30pm by beeping the cart every 15 minutes!! Sundown was at 5:40pm. For $85, you will get the cart at 5:30....maybe.
Overall, the course was adequate for a February round. Staff was friendly, but the price was too high. Luckily, *TEEOFF.COM have me a nice coupon which made it a bit more bearable.
Great Day on the course
We were hesitant to book a tee time after the rain storm we just had a couple days ago. To our surprise this course was in great shape and drained really well. The bunkers were not flooded and raked beautifully. My only gripe was that the layout can be confusing if you’re playing it for the first time. I can’t wait to see what this course will look like when the season begins!
Good Course
Staff were friendly, pace of play was good. Layout was good, a lot of dog legs and tons of bunkers with good sand. Course is short but has graded and hard greens. Conditions were really good for November. We were paired with another twosome that were friendly. Greens were fast, probably lightning in August. I would go back with a Golfnow hot deal but probably wouldn't pay full price. They also did not have any food or drink available after 3pm.
Greatly improved
I've played Colts neck golf club several times and generally conditions are OK. to good right now, they were very good.
Epic Day
We played with a member and his son and had a top tier game. His son took a 3W off the fairway 250 yards to the green it was that kind of game. Things are in great shape unlike other places in the off season. Would highly recommend.
Poor condition on the greens
I’ve played course many times before COVID.
The course is not long for advanced players but the conditions were better before. After 3 years I decided to play there reminding me of great conditions overall. Staff, fairways and smooth fast greens. Got a late tee time after 2:30 pm. Just me and my wife. Upon arrival I see only young adults staff ( HS students). Didn’t help me loading the the bag to the cart. Even they saw me pulling up to the front entrance. Same thing inside to pay for my tee time. I know they are inexperienced. But sure lacks training there.
We teed off early though 2:20pm. There was no one ahead of us at that time. 1-2 hole we were ahead 5 min. But we arrived at 3rd hole suddenly 4 some students were getting ready ready to tee off. I confronted them and they said they were told to tee off from third hole. But we got ahead of them because they knew what was going on. But after that hole I see another 4 some students carrying & walking in front of us. Then I realized student players were being squeezed in the course in the afternoons. After 5 holes we had to wait 5-10 min every hole. Fairways were average to good. Tee box great. But the greens were terrible. A lot of holes, divots and didn’t look as good as 3 years ago. Very disappointed. Although the person in front of me should pickup & repair divots and marks. I couldn’t put a single hole without removing few pieces of grass flown when the ball landed or repairing ball marks. I’ll go back again. But hopefully this review will help the staff to pay a little more attention where it needs.
Recent aeration
Many fairways and tee boxes were plugged recently - aside from that CN was as expected .
Quality .
Greens were fine .
This is certainly one of the top courses open to the public in NJ
Great day
The course was clean of all leaves and in great shape was a great value at $50 after 12pm
110 for what ????
Course was in terrible shape. First and last visit. Neshanic Valley makes this place look like a dog track and it’s 30$ less. Pebble creek is better along with any of the other Monmouth county courses. Matter of fact I’d recommend playing tamarack over this place. Play at your own risk and expect to be disappointed !!!
