Tee boxes were in rough shape and so were some of the greens
Tee boxes were in rough shape and so were some of the greens,
Weeds everywhere from tee box’s to greens. Lots of dry dead greens. Pace of play was horribly slow. Tons of divots on fairways that you can tell have been there the whole season. Tee boxes were mostly not flat and were divot infested. Overall, I will not come back here regardless of price.
it is what it is.
when you play gamblers you know ahead of time what the deal is. for the price point of this course, it is hackers paradise. but you know that going in. you also know the fairways will be beat up. the greens will be slow as the coffin dodgers on the course. the pace of play will make you feel as if your going backward. etc etc. it's ok for what it is. just make sure you know that going in.
Aside from a couple long par 5 holes the course was very playable for the 72-y-o from the white tees. The holes are designed so that even short par 4's require thinking on how to play them with doglegs and ponds. The greens were on the slow side but they were very good and smooth and the ball rolled well. The only negative was we had to sit for 45 minutes and wait to play even as a large group was coming off the course and nobody was teeing off on one or ten right in front of us. Once on the course it was wide open.
Great challenging course
My first time playing at Gambler was great. Friendly staff, for a holiday weekend the pace was good. Nice atmosphere and very clean well maintained grounds. Will definetly be back, had a great time.
Normally this is a great course and the pace of play is good. However, the guy who usually works as Ranger was playing that day. His replacement for the day did not do well. We had a foursome in front of us who took a half hour on a par 3 hole. The fellow we were playing with was so fed up and how slow they were, he left after 10 holes. Another couple who was playing the course with us was very upset with these four guys as well.
We enjoy this course very much, and hopefully we'll never have to deal with this situation again. This was our only bad experience after playing many rounds at this course.
Poorly maintained greens, both second cut and fairways left uncut,/unmaintained. fairways littered with very old divot holes. Bare patches throughout. Starter pressured us to start before our time when we we not ready. Drink cart showed up once only at the 17th
i like the course. i will play here again. only thing is someone thought it was a good idea to run the sprinklers afternoon.
Great round until the sprinklers came on just before we tee off on 18
Stop The Rain Already!
We knew it would be wet, but I was surprised that the course drained at all. We were lucky, it didn't rain until we were done.
Greens are starting to show the effects of too much water.
Overall, we can't blame them for the condition of the course, they are doing the best they can. If it stops raining for a while, maybe then we can fairly judge the course conditions.
Because of the weather, there were few golfers, and we zipped through the round.
Course is okay at best. Greens rolled alright but no slope or challenging reads and no fixed divots. Fairways pretty burnt out, dry and have fat divots. Rough is long and hard to the find ball when it is lying in the rough. Staff is awful, ranger never left us alone, kept hassling us and the starter was insanely strict.
This course has been on my radar for awhile. Glad I finally played it. It was cart path only today because it rained a lot the day before but the course was in pretty good shape. The greens could have benefited from a good rolling and the rough was a little deep but that was understandable and didn’t lessen the enjoyment of this round. I had previewed the layout and pictures ahead of time. Nothing jumped out at me so I wasn’t expecting much. It turned out much nicer than I hoped for. There’s a good bit of water and enough trees to challenge me. Some short par 4s but a good mix of everything. It plays shorter than the 6040 from the whites. The wind was a big factor on this day. Hope to get back there on a calmer day to try to score even better.
Course was in good condition for a public course. Good value for the price i paid
