Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Lake/Ridge Course

About
Neshanic Valley Golf Course is a 27-hole layout that sprawls across 420 acres of rolling farmland. It is the flagship course of the five-course Somerset County Park Commission system. The design team of Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry crafted the layout, which is divided into three nines called the Lake, Ridge, and Meadow. The nines can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Lake/Ridge Course, as the name would imply, starts out with a few water holes. In addition to the lakes on the front nine, environmentally sensitive wetland areas come into play throughout. The fairways and greens are bordered by ample fescue and the putting surfaces are closely guarded by strategically placed bunkers. Neshanic Valley also offers a nine-hole, par-32 Academy Course, which is great for beginners.

Great fair lsyout
Beautiful course with great layout. It only has few blind doglegs and hidden traps.
Hard to find any better
Hot deal price was excellent.
Course conditions for late November were very good.
Layout is always challenging with a premium on shot making.
If the wind is blowing, hang onto your hat !
Election Day round
Golf now offered a great price for early November.
Course was not crowded except for the 4some in front of us. Conditions were EXCELLENT and greens rolled true.
Overall a great day with 3 friends
This is a great course
Great course; great views; challenging. If you have never played here before, then you should play here ASAP. Consider me a friend and consider this a strong recommendation to play here.
Excellent course, but normal price is high
Neshanic Valley is a county owned golf course with near-Country Club conditions. The greens, fairways, sand traps, and rough are all in excellent condition. Most tee boxes are in great condition with some a little chewed up - still really good, but not excellent condition.
One bad aspect is that the starters are not allowed to let GolfNow players tee off early. Even if the tee is empty for several tee times before your assigned tee time, they are supposed to hold you until your assigned tee time.
Great course
If you have not played here before I would make a point of putting it on your short list of places play.
2nd Time Back
I played here one time last year and always wanted to come back. Got a HotDeal on Golf Now, so this was my chance. Played Meadow/Ridge, Meadow I played last year, Ridge was new to me, I enjoyed it. Was told Blue tees equal to white so we played off them, had alot of long 2nd shots all day, think I'll move up to silver next time. Aeration warning when I took tee time, but they were working on the other 9 this day, our 9's were scheduled for the next days. Greens were great and challenging. Loved the $4 foot long hot dog too.
Play this course
I have been playing here for years and have NEVER seen the course in other than exceptional condition.
GOOD AND NOT GOOD
Ten AM tee time on a beautiful but very windy day. The course was great as usual. Five hour round. The staff did not make any attempt to speed up play that I could see.
When it is crowded, this course should not allow walkers.
Awesome Time
Great course, fabulous condition. Staff was friendly and helpful. Conditions were awesome, firm smooth greens, flawless fairways. Pace of play a bit slow, but a small outing backed things up a bit. Staff was friendly and helpful, good tips from the starter on some of the intricacies of the course. Excellent value for a top quality venue!
Need water on course maybe have a cart with drinks/food/shacks. It was hot with no water not good
Staff in pro shop not very friendly... for the price, I would expect better snacks available as well... on the positive side, course was in good shape and is an interesting layout w some challenges
Great course! But staff not so much.
I walked in for 10AM tee time. The person in the counter did even say Good Morning or welcome. I asked can I use the range"range is closed" that's it. He then tells me that are mowing it. It's 10AM!!! Why are they cutting the grass on the range knowing there are many people waiting to use the range.
*** I then realized the whole day they had workers cutting the grass, fixing bunkers, all through out the time we were playing.
I just don't understand how they can't do it earlier in the morning like other courses.
Other then that, the Ranger was good, course was great, but the guy working behind the counter needs to change his attitude.
