Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Only nice part of the course was tee boxes. Only paid $8 though and found about $20 worth of new balls.
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to leave a four star review of Tara Greens. We hope to see you again soon! - Alexa of appliedgolf management at Tara Greens
Killing the golden goose
This is as basic a course as you get, with lots of monotony. Having said that, it was always a great place to go to work on your game anytime you wanted as they didn't require a tee-time. However, they're under new management and just implemented tee-times, which eliminates the only perk of playing there. It's a 9-hole course and 3, 4 and 5 are almost exactly the same, straight and boring par-4s. Six is a fun dogleg par-5 and seven is a very long par-5. No. 8 is a reachable par-4. These holes made the course worth showing up at when you had a free morning or afternoon, but now with the tee-times it's too much of a hassle.
I always considered this course on par with visiting the driving range. And I'm not willing to make a tee-time at a driving range.
very convenient for me.
I started playing golf last spring. Tara greens was my 1st course I played. My mentor had me there all day, We started @ driving range, then pitch & putt, then 9 reg. Holes. He made me practice alot there b4 We went to Rutgers to play. The convenience is, I work within 1 mile from Tara & I have 4.5 hrs in between my runs. So I will be @ Tara greens alot this season. This is a great place to Practice, practice, practice.
Good pace of play, that's about it
Bunkers were overgrown with weeds and the sand was very hard. 2 of the holes had pin locations that weren't even on the greens. Fairways were choppy with dirt patches all over, the only real green patches were weeds.
For the price there are plenty of other courses in the area that are better. If they maintained their coarse better they would have a better rating from me but I won't be going back this year.
Fun course for beginners and high-handicappers
This 9-hole course has a decent variety of challenges, especially the tight fairways and a long par-5 (hole 7). Great course to learn the game and discipline yourself to hit it straight. Otherwise: woods.
Staff is as friendly as can be (especially Robbie in the clubhouse and Amos, the starter) and the locals that play there are generally very nice and friendly.
This is my go-to course when I don't have a tee-time (you don't need one).
The mid-week pace of play is excellent and you'll be good if you hit the course early. In the afternoon, it gets crowded with seniors walking and beginners duffing it up.
