Vacation round
Played here after playing Polo Trace. Had a bad experience at Polo Trace with some obnoxious members and was pleasantly paired with some locals who played this course every week. The course itself was in OK condition, but the greens were pretty bad. There were dead spots on most greens which caused putting to be hit or miss, no pun intended. I would go back for the price ($35 was incredible), but it's what you would expect from a public course regarding quality. Fun course overall.
You Get What You Pay For
I got a last-minute deal to play here for $17 on a Saturday morning. For $17, it was worth it. To pay anything more would have been a rip-off. But I knew this going in. So, with the fact that I paid so little to play in mind, the course was what you'd expect.
Greens were average...some bare spots. Fairways were unattended. Tee boxes were heavily sloped in some areas.
But, to reiterate, I only paid $17. And I got paired with another single and we flew around the course in under 3 hours. It's position golf with a few holes where you can go for it.
Fun Course Needs Some Serious Repair Work
The price was right on GolfNow so I booked a twosome with my golf buddie. Enjoyed our round, but course had many places where the fairway grass was so worn down to dirt and dust that we had to institute the rule of lift and place wherever you could fine a close-by spot with some grass. Chipping off a bare dirt lie around the green was not fun, especially when you had to loft the ball over a trap. The greens were in fair condition. A little loving care would make this a much better course.
Peu d'entretien
Beau lay out mais le terrain n'est pas entrenu la short game très difficile causé mauvais entretien alentour des verts
slow greens
owners put little money into course, only bare minimum...so practice green and range always in deplorable condition....fairways are hard pan...but greens are not bad but extremely slow....it's too bad the poor conditions as the lay out isn't bad and could be a good course with some economic development by the owners...the one real positive is the course golf instructor, Ross Cash, who is terrific....I would recommend this course barely due to it being a decent lay out and if the cost is minimal....
NEEDS WORK
GREENS WERE PRETTY BAD. POOR GREENS KEEPING I SUSPECT. FAIRWAYS WERE FAIR.
Lousy Greens
Poorest greens I've ever played. Mostly dirt and bumps with fertilizer and water mixed in. But challenging raised greens well protected by bunkers. Fairways have thin, thin lies. Sculled too many balls. Hate the bag service. I'd much rather put my own bag in my car and avoid the tips.
Not Great
Course is not kept well at all. Not required to fallow the rules of the game. If you are just learning it is the place to go, if you know and like to golf it is very frustrating
Longest game ever!
5 hours to play 18 holes. Frustrating. Can't ranger manage this problem??!!
Needs lots of work
First, on their website they have a walk on rate of $30 pp, when I got there and went to pay I was told its $40. I asked why the rates were different and was then given the lower rate. Didn't like that at all.
For the money the course is fairly typical, but the biggest problem was the greens. Some rolled true, but many were very burnt out, and you would be doing yourself a disservice to count anything more than a 2-putt. Tee boxes were in decent shape for the most part, and fairways were nice and open (although fairly dried up). Pace of play was a little slow, but rangers are friendly and do not rush you at all.
Lastly, beware that many of the reviews on here are from employees of the course, as is evident by their account names. Course is far from challenging, and conditions were sub-par. Overall, a fun experience for a good price. Far from the best this area has to offer.
Reviews are misleading!!!!
Town course mostly played by locals. Tee boxes, Fairways and Greens were in HORRIBLE shape. Don't waste your money on this course!!
good value
Great course but some greens in bad shape. 15 is really bad. Otherwise nice layout amateue friendly with some challenging holes. Very friendly easy going staff. Cafe food delicious definitely good after round lunch.
Great course for the money
My wife and I enjoyed playing this course. It was challenging enough but not really difficult. The hazards are well-placed and effective. Front nine greens were in pretty rough shape turf-wise (or should I say lack of turf in spots) but still rolled fairly well. Length of course is well suited for husband-wife golf. We had a fun round at Villa Del Ray.
Désolé mais
Green relativement très mauvais. Lay out ok. qualité des allés moyenne. Tee off très moyen. Nous avons payé 35$ x 4 et ça ne valait pas plus... Ne vous laissez pas influencer par les deals de -%%%
rég 120$ ??? 35$ c'est déjà bien payé
Course
Tee boxes and greens aren't the best. Greens are actually pretty bad in a lot of areas. But the rest of the course is very lovely.
bad greens
greens in bad shape, and they spray them green. worse greens i ever played on.....
Poor course conditions
I booked this course after reading some positive comments on this website. Comments of players are important for me and they should direct other golfers to chose the right course for a round. In this case the positive comments were misleading and incredible wrong. The course is in very poor conditions.Greens are awful and fairways poor. Not to talk about waiting time between holes, due to a lot of people playing.
It's true, I got a twilight rate ($ 30),but the conditions of this course are unacceptable. It is impossible to keep a score with such miserable greens.I am sure you can ask for a refund and make an issue with the management about that. If the course was in acceptable conditions it would be a quite challenging course (narrow and well protected greens) some water, dog legs etc, although short in most of the holes, but the awful general conditions of the course spoils everything.
À quand la fermeture
De la façon que le terrain est entretenu, je prévois
la fermeture prochaine de ce terrain. Aucun effort est fait pour améliorer les verts dédastreux. Je pense que le propriétaire rammasse le cash et fermera bientôt.
Not worth the cheap price
Really bad condition. The greens are painted pavement. Unbelievable. Stay away!
