Scotland Run Golf Club
About
Scotland Run Golf Club is conveniently located less than a half hour from downtown Philadelphia and only 45 minutes from Atlantic City. It has been voted the top golf course in the Philadelphia Region and it's also ranked in Golf World's Top 50 Public Courses in the country. The layout is routed through and around an old sand quarry, providing a unique mix of wooded, quarry, and links-style holes. The distinctive landscape has unique features including expansive waste areas and imposing cliffs that were deftly incorporated into the design. The golf course is wide open, which means it's at the mercy of the prevailing winds. Scotland Run Golf Club is a tough but fair test where you'll face forced carries, water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. On mornings where the fog rolls off of the hills, for a split second you might think you're at St. Andrews.

Scotland run
The course is usually prestine. But they aireate about 3 an half weeks ago. But the weather got hot again. Greens were burnt an bumpy an brown!! I am just glad had promo code to play that day. Also only played 9 holes of 18 that was paid for. Putting the ball was a joke.
Bad Course Conditions
Paid for this round, it says the were aerating which is fine, what it did not say is that over half the greens were just plain dirt. That is not a typo. Dirt, no grass just dirt. The other half were patches of grass and the rest dirt. They lost their greens, but did not mentioned, allowed you to play. It was like putting on mulch. Terrible conditions of the green. Have played here a lot and it usually top notch. Not this time, feel like I wasted my Money.
Nice Track
Greens are in poor condition right now, a couple of them are 80% gone. Recently aerated but the aeration is going to do little. They need reseeding at the least. Rest of the course is in excellent condition .
Greens? More like flat bunkers.
Granite the greens had been aerated last week, the conditions of the greens where a little unpleasant. Everything else was great, guess I’ll have to go earlier in the season next time.
Horrible
Absolutely a horrible experience, slowed up by a 5some no ranger. The course was an absolute joke for the money, the tee boxes were terrible, the fairways were terrible and the greens were not only air rated but 80 to 90 % dead !!! So upset and disappointed was expecting a beautiful track and was so horribly disappointed
Rainy season wear and tear
I love playing Scotland Run but this course seems to have suffered the rain effects . more than any other Philadelphia area track. The greens had burn and mold spots and the tee boxes and fairways should be better in late September. Very disappointed that the high greens fees were not adjusted when this course is in such mediocre shape.
Course was great
Great day. Out as a twosome and the course is very interesting and overall conditions were excellent with the exception of a few tee boxes that need some attention.
Course in Great Shape 6.28.18
The course was in great shape. I've played this course many times and the conditions (fairways, greens) were fantastic. Good deal on Golfnow.
refreshing course
this course was a nice change to playing your home course, had some challenging holes ,greens were in great shape very nice layout will definitely play again.
Fair course, poor management
Our round at Scotland Run started on some very poor side notes. The temperature was 95 and that was fine as it is now June. The problem is that for some reason, none of which made sense as it was told to us by course staff, was that it was cart path only on this sweltering day. That decision by management, to be cart path only, made this a very trying and souring day of golf. I'm sorry but it is going to be hot again this year and I don't think banning carts is the correct decision for your paying public golfers.
The course was in excellent condition and very playable. The greens rolled perfectly for us. The layout is nicely configured and has a great mix of degree of difficulty in the holes.
The cart girl was very nice and helpful after her first pass of the day in making sure we had wet cool towels and plenty of drink available. The desk person/ranger was not as pleasant in any regard other than to keep reminding us to keep off the fairways every time he passed by. There was never a reason for him to take the attitude as we never ventured off the cart path as instructed even though we didn't agree with it.
So bottom line the course was fine and worth playing (albeit a little pricey) but for this day the play should have been at a discount with the conditions presented by the course management decision. Or let the carts be used as intended. My suggestion is that if it is a hot day you may want to call ahead before venturing out and finding out you'll be forced to walk.
I will say I had an excellent sandwich at the turn provided by a very cheery server. Also I left something at the course after the round and did not discover it until later that night. Called the next day and they did have it and held onto it for me as we had to travel an hour back to retrieve the item and I am very thankful to them for that.
Course lacking customer service.
Played this course on a day when the temperatures were in the mid 90's. Was told it was cart path only and after 16 holes, we stopped a ranger to inquire why as course was not at all wet. We were told power went off on the previous day and burned the course and thus it could not be driven on. We then inquired if it was driven on the previous day and we were told yes. The following day we went there again (not to play) and carts were out on the course. The temps were in the low 80's. Course is burnt in several places but I am sure this did not happen in one day as we were told. No reductions in rates were given to us for the inconvenience of having to walk across the greens. It was not an enjoyable round of golf. Course layout seemed fine. Will never go back again. Way overpriced! Also we never did see restrooms on the course. They may have been there but not in plain sight.
A Must Play Course
I've been playing a list of the Top 40 Public Courses in NJ and this one is underrated at # 8. The course was in excellent shape; I loved the layout; staff was very friendly and helpful; and I played pretty well for a hacker ! I would highly recommend this course
GREAT COURSE
Can't wait to come back when the weather heats up and the course shows its true colors. Very nice course!!
First time
Very nice course good layout, seem like greens must been airated not to long ago , but still rolled pretty good. Been hearing lot of this course and seem be one the better courses in area, if stay play which anywhere can score good.
