Scotland Run Golf Club is conveniently located less than a half hour from downtown Philadelphia and only 45 minutes from Atlantic City. It has been voted the top golf course in the Philadelphia Region and it's also ranked in Golf World's Top 50 Public Courses in the country. The layout is routed through and around an old sand quarry, providing a unique mix of wooded, quarry, and links-style holes. The distinctive landscape has unique features including expansive waste areas and imposing cliffs that were deftly incorporated into the design. The golf course is wide open, which means it's at the mercy of the prevailing winds. Scotland Run Golf Club is a tough but fair test where you'll face forced carries, water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. On mornings where the fog rolls off of the hills, for a split second you might think you're at St. Andrews.

Scotland Run

Course could be in better condition. Lots of wear showing on green walk offs and tee box walk ups. Aeration plugs not swept or mat dragged from recent aeration around greens. Improved pre emergent process and timing would eliminate the "goose grass" and other non appropriate grasses and weeds. Bunkers in good condition. Leaves could be blown to areas not in off fairway landing zones to speed up play.

scotland run - Great fun and layout

Drove down from westchester, took 2 hours and play the course at cost of $75. Practice green was excellent and solid range. Great layout and greens are excellent. For mid november the course was in great shape. They had divot holders in the fairways on 3 , what a great idea which many courses should follow. Drive home was a long 3 hours but thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Lunch in beautiful club house, and they had rangers around to keep pace of play. The greens were so pure we had a lot of putts.

Wow!

What a great course! They had a starter who got everyone off in a fashion as to not cause a backup. Rangers were present on the course and recorded your groups pace of play which helped keep the pace up. We were finished under four hours. Never did we have to wait on the group ahead. The layout is unique and challenging especially from the black Tees. Greens ran true and over all condition is great!

Mixed results

I'm trying to be nice. I can understand it's been a hot brutal summer but this course is in bad shape. I love the layout here. Great variety of holes the staff is terrific always. Top notch practice facility. Food is great as well. My problem has always been with Scotland run is it is overpriced. Today they ran a special $70 after 12pm. Which is manageable if only it was in better shape. Way to many bare spots patchy greens dead tee boxes and a lot of crabgrass. They charge $100 bucks at peak times. That's unacceptable at its current conditions. Would I recommend this course? Yes I would but only if you can get a reduced rate in its current condition

Played the course twice this year , mid July and mid September.... excellent condition both outings. Numerous high quality shot situations, even on layups. Great staff and clubhouse. Looking forward to a return in 2017.

Nice layout but condition a bit rough

Course design is nice but condition was a bit on the rough side. Lot of dead grass areas. Perhaps the hot August stressed the course. Players I was paired with indicated course condition in the past has usually been much better.

Should have had a heads up

Love this course and everything about it very difficult from the back tees great layout however they should've let us known that the greens had just been aerated. Still a good deal for the price we paid but would prefer to know in advance about any work such as the greens being aerated

Excellent day

We thought the course was awesome and we are going back in the future. We got a break in the price because the greens were aerated a week ago. So the conditions were only off a little because of the greens. Great layout with some fun challenges.

Challenging & good condition but keep it in play!

Course is in excellent shape, aerating next week! so wait a while. Staff is great; marshals should spot balls with slow groups-not just tell them "your are behind"... (not us) this will help them play faster. Greens are good, fast, true. They do a great job there for all the play. Bag drop guys should be sure to fill divot mix on the carts. Conditions are close to some private clubs! Should have a dress code, though. Bartenders are nice- Jarrod and Shannon-good job by the beer cart, too!

The course design is with great imagination.

The course is friendly... however, it is a shot maker's course if you want to score low. If you hit it long of the tee. You will have to dial it down on some of the dog legs. And be prepared to hit it long - on a couple of par 4's reaching 461 yards. And rip on the par 5's. Several of the par 3's play over 200 yards. The green undulations have magnificent contour. Do yourself a favor - drive up to the greens and take peek before you rely on your range finder for distance. If you are not in the right place - forget about it; you may 3 or 4 putt. If the greens were a 12 on the stemp meter, I would call this Gem .... the little big horn of Pine Valley. I will put this course on my must play calendar once month. Another greta treat is Ballamor in Egg Harbor - their sister course.... OMG ( Oh My Golfness) MAGNIFICENT. If you have a family member who truly loves playing golf.... buy them a gift certificate for their next present. They will remember it for a lifetime.

Memories

Unfortunately, I have played this track before. While I understand that course maintenance is essential to keeping things in great playing shape I wish I had known before I hit the book button that the fairways and greens had been aerated and the greens were dressed. Putting was challenging to say the least and the lush carpets I once knew as fairways were compromised. I know this will all come back as the season progresses and only wish I had been warned in advance and that the fees were a match for the quality of the course on the day we played.

Great for a challenge

One of my favorite courses to play in the off season when it's a little less expensive. For $58 is awesome but it's not quite worth the $99 regular price in my opinion. You will need to hit 250+ off the tee, fairly straight, to have a chance to get to a lot of the par 4's in 2 and sometimes that's not even enough, and that's from the white tees. Everyone is friendly, good practice facilities and it will challenge you more than most courses.
