The course was very challenging. Some holes required a long tee shot to get over stuffy rough or water. The greens were extremely fast and hard to hold.

But overall it was an enjoyable day and very friendly staff.

our golf group recently hit 5 courses in the Bend area for a trip/tournament. we chose Pronghorn as our final round destination. having noticed over the years that i am a big fan of nicklaus designs i was very excited for this course.

i wouldn't say it disappointed, but bend offers plenty of stiff competition, and this ended up being my second favorite course of the trip to Tetherow.

however, this course is magic! the conditions were immaculate. the pro shop, the caddies, and the starters were all super friendly and welcoming.

it's a pretty long course, so expect to hit a lot of drivers. i prefer a little more variety, but didn't have much choice. definitely a good idea to keep the ball in play too... it gets pretty punishing when you go offline.

the whole property is quite beautiful, and the holes fit the landscape nicely. i wouldn't say there is a huge variation between holes, but it all flows nicely.

unfortunately i chose this round to play my worst of the trip, so i have some inherent negativity about the course, but just based on the layout and the condition this course is a must play. the price is steep, but it definitely has an exclusive vibe. just check out the google maps view of the course... there is nothing around for miles! very cool!

After paying for my round in the pro shop and getting my bag from
bag drop, with no hint of any trouble carried over to range, then asked where the putting green and chipping area was, carried my bag over there. It was then that another golfer told me,'you know, they have no carts available'?--no i didnt but was wondering
why i was lugging my non carry bag around!
At the first tee some guy shows up with a push cart and literally
bungee cords my bag to it-i guess it was the last one they had--no scorecard no pin sheet no,we will get carts out to you as soon as we can----that turned out to be on 6 green--after the round went in to the shop, and there only response to all this was,did you pay for a cart????
lots of nice courses in bend and much better values,do yourself a favor and play elsewhere--its private your not a member

Best quote of the day. He designed a course that can be very diabolical. I've never played a track where I had to think so much about the pros and cons of so many shots. There are a few holes where you can grip it and rip it but many holes where club selection and shot making are an absolute must. Otherwise, you're in for a long and frustrating day. Course conditions were excellent overall. Greens are very fast and unforgiving, fairways, tee boxes immaculate. I played mid-afternoon weekday and pace of play was good. We basically had the course to ourselves. Considering what I paid to play some of the other tracks in the area, this is not the worst deal in town. I like that a cart is included in the green fees. A lot of other courses charge extra. This is a high desert course that is basically in the middle of nowhere with a few homes scattered around and beautiful vistas of the Cascades to the west. The club house and surrounding facilities are some of the nicest you'll find anywhere. All in all was a fun round and would absolutely play again.

We played the Nicklaus course late in the afternoon for lower (but still high) green fees, and no caddy. The course was in fine condition, and has some interesting holes. Greens were pristine and challenging. However . . .
As visitors, we were given a practice area with divot-riddled torn up tee areas, next to the better members' area. On course, no food cart or water #except clubhouse at the turn#. No course guide was available #they were "out"#. The untitled pin sheet mounted inside the cart, was for the wrong course #Fazio#, which we discovered after 7 holes. We encountered a slow member couple ahead of us who clearly didn't appreciate us requesting to play through.
I won't be back, but if you go, I would recommend getting a caddy to take care of these service issues.

Just played the Pronghorn Nicklaus course. We played five courses in rhe Bend area (Tetherow, Crosswater, Brasada Ranch, Widgi Creek and Pronghorn), and this one was our favorite. It was a blend of Tetherow and Crosswater. Immaculate conditions (not a blade of grass out of place), beautiful layout and great views. We would play this again in a heartbeat.

With resort courses, sometimes they let people on who have never played golf and it slows the whole round for everyone. I quit after a 3-hour front nine. The greens are beautiful and the course is in great shape but the design is kind of boring. Plus, the pace of play ruins it. There are much better courses for the money. Don't waste your time.

This is a challenging golf course that is a delight to play. There is only one unfair hole which is a blind tee shot with a hidden stream straight away over the target line.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

This is one of those "must play" golf courses when in Central Oregon.

Pronghorn, along with a handful of other recent additions to the area, make Bend a world class golf scene. I've had the pleasure of playing both the Nicklaus and Fazio courses here, and both are standout, high desert plays that are immaculately conditioned and lots of fun to play. While the signature hole of the property is on the Fazio course, I curry favor on the whole towards the Nicklaus, thanks to a lot of risk-reward holes (including a couple drivable par 4s). The onsite accommodations are great too, particularly for golf groups and families.

Pronghorn has many exceptional features. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are in pristine condition. Location of the tee shot is paramount here as there are many fairway bunkers and hazards waiting for that slightly errant shot. Par 5's are reachable, but offer challenges around the green to make you think seriously about the decision to go for it. Overall a great track. The clubhouse and restaurants are great, if not somewhat expensive.

This private-turned-public course is amazing. Playing with a caddie is a treat. The course design is superb.
It is expensive, (don't forget to tip your caddie), but it is worth it, at least once. If the economy comes around, they'll probably close the course to public play.
