Nice course - not a flat course
Enjoyable course. Lots of sand traps but if you play kinda straight very nice!
Awesome Layout
First time playing here. Long drive from south Orlando area but well worth it. The course layout is awesome with lots of dog legs, long par 3s and the odd shorter par 4
We were greeted by a friendly pro shop guy who provided a course layout and yardage booklet (which was helpful)
Tee boxes were fine, fairways were a little patchy and the greens looked like they had all been treated recently. Course is hilly, no water but lots of sand/waste bunkers. A 3 ball teed off in front of us but never held us up so we really enjoyed our game at a fast pace
Will look to play here again
Nothing last forever
Probably 50% of courses in Fla do not hold their playability after 40 years of existence. This course has seen better days. During the summer and if the price is right I’d say go play it. Of course the amount of money and labor it would take to get it really enjoyable is cost prohibitive due to Bidenomics.
WTH Deltona
I haven’t played here in 2 years and read the reviews, saw that it was in bad condition so instead I call the pro shop and he tells me that the fairways and greens are in great shape. Apparently they have no idea what great shape means. Fairways horrible, tee boxes horrible, and the greens were like putting on a beach there was so much sand. Money wasted. Won’t be back again.
Very nice course
The Deltona Gold Club is interesting to play. I like the elevation differences and the few dogleg holes for added interest. The course appears challenging for a beginner, but due to wide fairways quite forgiving. The greens were a bit bumpy and appeared in recovery after heavy rainstorms a week ago. Otherwise in a very nice shape. Other courses were quite inferior this week. The description praises the "new Clubhouse" which was new about 10 years ago or so. The Double wide trailer is functional and appropriate but nothing to write home about. They sold snacks and refreshments but no restaurant service. They did not had a drink cart on the course when we were there. We had a good experience and almost made the 18 holes with a 2pm Tee Time. Good fun for the money.
What a shame !
Used to play this course weekly and was always one of Centeral Floridas best kept secrets. New ownership has really let the place go. Greens were terrible, fairways were terrible. Looks like everyone simply quit caring ! Very sad !
Progress Being Made
The last time I played Deltona, the greens were rough, bumpy, and hard to put on. Even though they’re sanding them regularly to even them out, they must be rolling them because they putt pretty decent and at a good speed. Hopefully when the grass grows in. They’ll keep it tight and fast. The rest of the course shows signs of improvement also, the rough is being mowed. The sticks and junk are being picked up. It is a work in progress, but it should be in decent shape in a couple of weeks.
Didn't have our reservation. Sandy everything
It started out with them not having the reservation we booked. I'll chalk this down more for golfnow then the course. They still honored the time anyway. Great people very friendly. The course was in rough shape most likely due to the grass season. The greens were very patchy and sandy. There is no water which could of been a plus but the roughs are very rough and full of sandspurs and thorny vines so it's like a water hazard you aren't getting your ball back. Overall it was still an enjoyable challenging course.
coming back
Played a few months back course condition terrible. Now months later quite a bit better, Greens and fairways are looking healthy and playable. Good job management.
Making a come back
The Deltona Golf Course is making a come back. They have changed the Groundskeeping Staff which is key to a successful well maintained Golf Course. It was a pleasure to see the improvement, considering this Golf Course offers such a wonderful layout. The greens are on the mend give it another few weeks and they will be rolling just fine. I'm now considering purchasing a membership.
Good Place To Play
I really enjoyed my first trip to Deltona Club. The course was in good condition, for the most part. The tee boxes could use some work, and the greens were playable. Most of the fairways were wide enough to accept all but the really miss hit tee shots. Layout was very interesting and I was surprised by the hilly terrain for this part of Florida. Look forward to playing there again.
Getting better every time
The course is looking better if they could get the greens to roll a little bit faster, it would make the experience better. But you cannot beat the pace of play and the staff here is fantastic. If you come a little bit before your teatime and there’s nothing going on , they tell you go right out there.
Course improvement evident
The course shows signs of improvement. The fairways are decent in most places. The rough that had gotten out of control is not being maintained. The course is very playable, except for the greens. The greens at Deltona Club are very rarely in good condition, which is a huge part of golf, maybe the most important part in my opinion. They really should hire someone who knows how to care for the greens property. I’ll give it another try on a few weeks, hopefully it gets better.
Nice layout, needs a lot of love
Staff was friendly. Tee boxes overgrown, greens were the worst greens I’ve seen in years, not just here, worst greens of any course I’ve played in 5+ years. It was like putting in a sandbox. I won’t be back anytime soon.
