Poor rain check management
On Tuesday, August 23 I bought and paid for 18 holes on the west course. After nine holes and making the turn I realize they had let two groups go off on the back nine severely holding up the pace of play, with impending rain coming in I decided to go back into the clubhouse and take a rain check the young kid behind the counter gave me a token and told me it was good for nine holes. On September 5 I went back to reclaim my nine holes with the token the young kid gave me and different very rude kid behind the counter told me that my token was a range token not a rain check token and denied me my rain check and nine holes which I was entitled to. I told him this is the token I was given for the rain check and he assured me no one that works there would have given me that token as a rain check basically accusing me of lying and trying to steal 9 holes.
Mercer Oaks West
They just aerated the greens so it was awful to putt all day. Course was super dry as well. Definitely not worth $80
Please bring back the drinking water! (Excellent course otherwise)
Outside of a few fairway bunkers, both the West and East are in excellent shape compared to most other public courses in NJ. It is an unbeatable value for Mercer County residents.
I would give a perfect 5/5 rating if water coolers were brought back. It is a pain to pack a lot of water for a round, especially when walking. We now know Covid is very unlikely to be transmitted through surfaces, it’s time to bring the water back (please)!
first time on the west course
I have played the east course many times and wanted to see the west course. It was in perfect condition.
Any ball 1 foot out of play is lost, so keep it in the middle.
very well maintained. Very fair greens , A beautiful course with water views on the back nine. Highly recommend
Course needs water stations
This course is good but somebody is literally going to die because the county got cheap as does not put water stations out on the course. It’s horrible, more concerned about the money than golfer safety in the summer.
The course is fun to play moves pretty good !
West course at Mercer Oaks is well maintained and groups well spaced. The course is difficult but not ridiculous. Just enough water to intimidate occasionally and traps that are well placed to catch slightly errant approach shots.
Good test every time I play it
Mercer Oak West
First time on the West this season. Course in great condition. The weather was brilliant. The staff in the golf shop and on the course are always personable and helpful. All in all a fun day..
Tough decision
Mercer Oaks is always a pleasure to play, with each course well run, well maintained, and well designed. Our day at the west course was no exception. The hardest decision one must make when booking is whether to play east or west - a nice dilemma to face!
In great shape
Course was in great shape and has some interesting holes. Weather could not have been better.
Aerated greens and soggy turf tee to green
I loved the layout, especially the challenge on driving. Unfortunately, the course was very soggy from recent rains and the greens were recently aerated (though there's no notice of that on their website). If you're playing in mid April 2022, call the pro shop for conditions before booking. I look forward to playing again in mid-summer conditions.
Brutally slow
4 groups backed up by hole 7. Never seen 4 groups on a hole before. No Marshall checking/enforcing pace. Insanely slow. Almost 30 minutes per hole.
After a 2.5 hour 9 holes I called it a day and went home.
A shame because the layout and conditions were pretty good.
They have a calendar on their website with the aeration schedule. It's under the tab "Calendar"
