Not Worth the $$$$
I am a devoted Marriott customer. The cost to play these two resort courses way out of line, given the conditions of the course. We played Valley and was very surprised with the poor greens. Too many better options in the area, given the cost.
Customer service good…
Overall rating
Course was in great condition and pace of play was good. Finished in under 4 hrs
Red tees are back
After several years, the Red tees are back. It makes the course easier for those who want a strategic fun game but are not long hitters
Starter is rude
The starter on the Valley course was very rude. Not a nice guy or attitude. Yelled at us to “get some balls in the air.” Then kept staring at us, even though we were 10 minutes early for our tee time. I would fire the guy. Don’t think his attitude is trainable.
Also, the course is a little rough after the recent rains and they have a lot of workers who apparently get paid to ride around in maintenance carts and bother the golfers.
Seen better days
Pro shop staff sets the tone and the guy who checked me in lacked any friendliness or enthusiasm.
Course lay out is good.
Fairways and rough decent.
Bunkers need some upgrading. Many were hard packed and many players “forget” to take.
Many of the greens were awful. Uneven grass and very dried out.
great track
Got a lucky break when we cancelled our Desert Princess tee time due to a sandstorm. Just a few miles away the JW Marriot was calm and clear. Great round on a great course.
Golf Break
Played this coure before and this time no one was round at the bag drop area, Had to haul the golf clubs a long way towards the golf area,
After the round same thing no service to transport golf clubs to the main level.
Driving range was closed...
Dissapointed with the service.
Great Course
We played the course on Super Bowl Sunday in the afternoon, so we got it for a bit lower price than normal. The course has a great layout and is in excellent condition. The greens were a bit dry, but still rolled pretty good, so we were OK with that. The course layout has a few challenging holes, but overall is very fair and enjoyable to play. We would definitely play it again if we can get it for a reasonable price.
Club house asst pro was less than congenial checking us in. Seemed irritated that we were coming to play his course.
No rangers on the course, with the back nine being very slow. Waits up to fifteen minutes on each tee box. They used to pass out fruit and encourage all to keep up a fair pace with their friendly comments.
Refreshment carts had a limited appearance. Once per nine.
I guess when you raise your rates from under 200$/round to 280$/round, you get less amenities and slower play.
