The view is amazing! The staff is friendly!
The golf course where we play is valley, which has a wide fairway for beginners or Hook/Slice. The view is fantastic and makes you feel happy.
But we lost four balls in the hole with the pool...
Top notch
Even in the hot summer days this course is top notch. Course layout is awesome. Very well kept. Lots of elevation changes, challenging approaches, deep bunkers. This is easier if the two at the JW Marriot and more forgiving.
Course & Resort are Amazing! Pro Shop staff is horrendous
First off we had a great time, course and resort were amazing. We were able to go out as a twosome on Father’s Day weekend and had great pace, finished in 3 hours. The guy working at the pro shop (9am-11am on Friday 6/16) was the absolute worst I have ever seen in my entire life. Guy has no business working in a front facing position. He was so miserable and unhelpful with every interaction. He was cocky and rude and acted inconvenienced at every question we asked. It was our first time playing here and didn’t know where anything was, we ended up having to ask the outside staff for any information we needed. (Outside staff was great, but due to the absolutely horrible service from the pro shop, giving one star as it put a stain on the experience). Course is immaculate, I will be playing again just hope I don’t run in to this curmudgeon in the shop again.
Fun Course
We play it every time we come to the area. Always in great shape.
Excellent green condition.
Very variety of views and excellent green and fairway conditions. Well-maintained.
Definitely would like to play golf again.
Cost
If you use the Marriott app. You'll save about 15%.
Superb Golf Course and Facilities
The Marriott Desert Springs is quite the operation. A large and gorgeous hotel, complete with its own lake and passenger boats plying the lake's waters, great restaurants and bars, and 2 world-class golf courses.
Our twosome, a 10 handicap and a 20 handicapper, played the Valley course on a perfect day. A bit on the warm side, but there was a slight breeze which kept us comfortable. The course was in superb condition from tee to green. It's a very interesting layout, designed by one of my favorite architects, Ted Robinson, known as the “King of Waterscapes.” It seemed that there was just the right amount of water in places that made alot of sense.. Fairways were cut nice and low for excellent rollout, while the rough was high enough to be a real challenge, but not neglected like so many courses these days. Greens rolled true, if not a tad on the slow side. Approach shots with spin held relatively well for the desert, which is notorious for greens that don't hold very well.
Staff was very friendly and made sure we had plenty of ice in the provided ice chest and used the practice tee range with included range balls and the most beautiful view from the practice tee that you'll ever see. We'll be back soon. Highly recommend this fun and challenging track.
