Wild Turkey Golf Club
About
Wild Turkey Golf Club is one of New Jersey's top public courses. It is part of the Crystal Springs Resort, which offers six other courses including the popular Ballyowen and Crystal Springs golf courses. Wild Turkey combines characteristics from both. The layout has a unique design inspired by the interesting topography, which is most aptly described as "basin and ridge." The "basin" of the course is a wide-open expanse that offers plenty of room while the holes that play along the "ridge" of the golf course tumble across a variety of elevation changes. Due to the dramatic undulations of the terrain, it's a tough golf course to walk. Wild Turkey Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 seventh. This tricky hole calls for a demanding carry over a quarry lake in order to reach the well protected green.

need rangers - improve pace of play
rounds should not take 5 hours; especially with the shorter days and high prices
Great track!
This was my first time playing wild Turkey on a day where we played 36 holes at Crystal Springs Resorts. The track is great. Pace of play was a little slow because there alot of beginners ping ponging the ball around but it only took us 4.5 hours when we teed off at 11:50am on a Sunday.
The course was a little wet but the green were true and the fairways were well kept. For $135 (as a public player) the value is pretty good. Will def be returning in 2021.
One of NJ's Best
One of my favorite course in NJ and it never disappoints. Great open layout course with excellent scenic views, and excellent conditions. Highly recommended.
Extremely slow play
If you enjoy 5 1/2 hours rounds this place is perfect for you. 3 foursomes backed up at every tee. No rangers to speed play. Not worth the money at any price.
Worst experience
They sent me out the first day as a single with 4-5 4sones in front of me and today they sent me out with a 2 who never played golf before
Amazing!!
I LOVE THIS COURSE, ITS GREAT!! VERY FUN TO PLAY, VERY WELL KEPT AND THE STAFF IS AWESOME!! AMAZING FAIRWAYS, AMAZING GREENS AND OVERALL BEAUTIFUL!! GO UP TO CRYSTAL SPRINGS AND ENJOY PLAYING AND HAVING A GREAT TIME!! I AM DEFINITELY PLAYING AGAIN!
Mixed Bag
Wild Turkey is a fun course to play, but there are two areas where they need a lot of improvement:
1) Pace of play - wasn't horrendous, but it wasn't good. By the third hole there was already a back up as our group pulled up to the tee and the group in front was standing around the beverage cart and had yet to tee off despite the group in front of them already well ahead. We didn't see a ranger throughout the entire round, so it's clear that Crystal Springs/Wild Turkey does not care about enforcing pace of play.
2) Greens - they were quick, but you had to doge what seemed like hundreds of ball marks on every single green. I know they get a lot of play, but it's really a shame that they allow their course to get chewed up like that. This is on the golfers too of course, but the staff made no mention to replace/fill divots or repair ball marks on the greens.
Having played this course a number of times in the past, they always seem to be plagued by the same issues. It's worth playing, but only if you can get a price below $70 or $75. What they normally charge is frankly outrageous. This course is not worth $100. I do recommend playing it, but make sure you get a fair price and you need to expect a slow round, especially on the weekend.
FYI, they started aerating the greens behind us as we were finishing our round so I'd advise staying away for 2-3 weeks. They also have the silly permanent holes where the ball will not fall into the cup all the way, despite being outside where virus transmission is little to none and the virus not being a major problem in NJ at this time.
A great course in terrible shape
Unfortunately, while I used to love wild turkey and all of the tracks at crystal springs, it, as well as the other course we played that weekend at CS, were both in abysmal condition. I had encouraged friends to make the trip out because the courses are usually in good shape and I think are a fun challenge. I was absolutely embarrassed to have invited other golfers out there who were disgusted by how bad of shape the greens were in as well as some of the tee boxes/ fairways. I have not played greens this bad all season long as multiple public courses. Not nearly what I had grown to expect from crystal springs in prior years.
Don’t think I’ll be back or be inviting anyone out there until the courses are back in decent shape.
Very Nice
Very nice course, like the free range balls and chipping and putting green, nicely manicured all around. Went out as a single and paired w a great pair of guys who played from the black tees while I played from the whites. The round took under 4.5 hours. The front nine seemed much faster than the back when we caught up with the group in front of us...almost right after the snack stand. Thinking about joining but had a bad expertise on Black Bear the other day being matched up w two of the worst golfers I ever played with. Hoping. the higher end of Wild Turkey will prevent this from happening in the future. Intentionally playing in the mid AM to avoid late day or weekend crowds. Will keep yo posted...
Great course
After driving 4 hours, we arrived at the first tee a few minutes late...no issues. The course is part of a 6 course complex, and a resort. The course was in great shape, very green and well maintained. Greens were a bit thin, but we were told that was the style??? Views were breathtaking, you could see for miles through the valleys and mountains. The course itself was extremely playable and forgiving, unlike Crystal Springs. It was a risk/reward course, with lots more rewards than risks. The only downfall was the group in front of us was extremely slow, but due to COVID-19 rules, waving us through is frowned upon. Not sure they would have, seemed they were just a bunch of rude players only concerned for their game. The beverage cart was out and about all day. The staff was friendly and helpful. Booked another trip to the resort in September, and already made tee times for Wild Turkey!
Needed more info
This course did t allow carts in fairway. This was not disclosed on GolfNow and should have been.
Early season fun
The course is still in winter mode, but it was great to stretch my arms and swing freely, watch the true ball flight and not a simulator. Cart path only slowed play but amazingLy still a 4 hr 15 min round. Overall an enjoyable round.
January Golf!
We played in January. What more can I say?
It's great that they were open. Got a good deal. Winds were up to 30 miles for per hour another fun day!
