Clays Golf Centre
Smashing day out playing clays brilliant layout fairways and greens excellent
Something for everyone not too long or tight real variety of shots needed
Would highly recommend it to anyone looking forward to playing it again very soon if closer to Stoke-on-Trent I would definitely join the club I can’t praise it higher than this
Great course
First time playing. Was great price and great course.
Tee off time
Myself and my friend turned up to play crazy golf club I was rudely greeted at the Manor reception I’m told there is two others joining us which neither of us wanted so in the end we did end up playing on her own but Golf now should not be booking two other people on the same teatime as strangers don’t always want to play with strangers.
The golf course was a lovely layout friendly staff in the golf shop and very helpful but I can’t say the same for the golf reception.
Great course
Really enjoyed our second time playing Clays. Greens a little slower due to some treatment work but throughly enjoyed our round still
Great value for money course
This was a cracking little course great value for money. Overall well maintained, greens fine. It was busy when I played, seemed to be very heavily booked which slowed play at times. Off course practice area was great.
Friendly, accessible course
This is a really friendly, welcoming course, where everyone is trying really hard to improve the golf experience for members and visitors. The course is fairly compact, which makes it both relatively easy for beginners but challenging for more experienced players, as the fairways are quite tight. Each hole has its own attraction and challenges, so you certainly need to be on your toes at all times. It contains a good range of bunkers, ditches and water hazards; enough to be enjoyable but not so many as to discourage you! It is located in beautiful green countryside and the course condition has improved remarkably in the last couple of years. It is a joy to escape to this green haven. There is an excellent driving range and the fantastic short game area will soon be reopening. This is an inclusive course, without airs or graces, where you really do feel extremely welcome. There is an excellent catering service offering tasty, varied and sensibly priced food, and a well stocked, well priced and helpful golf shop.
Quite Tight.
We were in 2 groups total of 8 golfers.
Russ in the shop was very helpful and welcoming, as was the steward Phil Gee and his staff.
Now the trees have grown i was suprised how tight the course is.
Greens were good and the course was in nice condition for the time of year.
If i had one small gripe, i would have to say there were a lot of leaves!!! but not a lot can be done about that.
We would be happy to go again.
Regards ANDY.
Revamped
It's only the second time I played here, the greens were in good condition and the fairways well manicured, I will definitely go back
Excellent day
Played the course for the first time since it being taken over and can already see the improvements. The greens had been dressed so not cut but that can happen wherever you go. Once cut they will be very good, running true and fast. After speaking with Andy when booking in, we had no worries about booking the course for our golf society in June, look forward to returning.
Disappointing
My first time playing this course for a number of years and I was expecting the course to be better since being taken over last year, but 3. holes were closed completely a number of the par 4’s were played as par 3’s from way down the fairway and there was 1 or 2 temporary greens I’m use. Maybe it will be better later in the year.
good course for average players
good course for average handicap players with plenty of trees and bunkers to make each hole interesting
Not the best winter course
Am afraid as much as I like this course, at present it's not playing very well (much like myself).
First hole was covered in tractor tyre furrows on the fairway, second hole is listed as 167 yds off the yellows but it's nowhere near that long and the pin placement was ridiculous,(5/6 foot from the fairway on a massive crown that made putting a joke) The course was very wet underfoot and the second cut was best part of 3" long. The leaves on the course made fairway/intermediate shots very difficult to find obvious balls and most bunkers were underfilled.
Shame as it's a great course in the summer months when maintained properly.
