A Great Variation Of Holes

Played in absolutely atrocious conditions.
The course was in good condition considering the weather. Course laid out to the contours of the land and proved a good challenge greens were in good condition all be it a bit slow due to the water.
Caught up with a senior member Brian who invited me to join him in a 2 ball made me more than welcome.
Gave me a brief history of the course overall great value for money.
But please be golf fit to walk round or hire a buggy
Thanks Brian for the Coffee

Excellent little course

Excellent course layout and good challenge with all holes different
Tough hilly walk but worth it for the views on the back 9 holes , which are amazing
Bunkers small and pointless but easy to get out of
Pro shop now closed , practice facilities include net and putting green so good for a quick warm up
Staff very friendly
Course condition very good for the money

Magnificent Monmouth a Welsh jewel.

Fabulous place to play golf when the weather is with you. A physical walk for older golfers but some great challenges

Hidden gem

A gem of a course. Don't let the yardage fool you, the elevation changes will test your game. Some really interesting holes, great greens and a wonderful setting. Three generations played together.......quite a tough walk for our most senior citizen as it is quite hilly, but worth it. Check-in etc was fine, staff and members friendly. Can see why they have so many buggies for hire, don't recommend hiring any of the trollies, but a very minor point.

Beautiful scenery, lovely staff and members.

warm welcome in the club house, well kept course. Scenery is stunning. Met some members out on the course who were also very welcoming! And a lovely spot to enjoy a drink overlooking the 18th. A great course overall and a true beauty on a sunny day.

Quirky course

On arrival unfortunately we were told only 6 holes were open to play and they had just holotined the greens. I would have liked a refund but we were too close to our tee time. I think the course would be a nice little fun course when fully open.

10 holes unavailable

Booked a few days previously. 10 holes not available. Pre Paid for a round but felt short changed. Clubhouse shut too. A waste of leisure time.
Blame GolfNow for not knowing this. Blame club for poor amenities on day.

Mudfest

On arrival we found out that only 8 holes were open and no trolleys were permitted.

After informing the boy behind the bar , that I had a disability and I couldn’t carry my clubs, another member advised me I could, but to be aware other players may ask me why. So they did!

To the course, not for the faint hearted, very steep and off camber over the whole 8 holes we played.

Very boggy in places, drainage needs some attention even on the higher ground.

Greens more moss than grass.

Overall very disappointed with our visit.

Holes closed

Unfortunately on arrival we found that they were only playing on 6 holes because of the very wet conditions and played 3 x 6 holes
It is a beautiful setting but unsurprisingly we could not experience the full challenge this course presents and the greens were bumpy due to the poor weather and lack of maintenance due to the holiday period.
Golf now should know these matters before selling tee times to us as it was a long way to travel to only play 6 holes.

Really wet day

Only 8 holes open which we played twice but still very enjoyable , would like to return and play the full 28 holes when the weather is better . It was a very wet day and followed a few rainy days so credit to the club for being open at all , our club was shut
