Dunedin Golf Club
About
Dunedin Golf Club was carved out of citrus groves and was the PGA National Golf Course until 1962. The golf course itself is delightful. From elevation changes to a river that bisects the course, you can just feel the aura of the great golfers who have played here. Bobby Jones, Gene Saraze, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Paul Runyan to name a few have participated in tournaments here. Dunedin Country Club is located in Dunedin, minutes from the beaches, many restaurants and several top hotel options. Dunedin Golf Club is a Donald Ross creation.

Ross would be embarrassed
Not sure how this course ever got rated 4 stars. The greens were rough and 2 different grasses. Fairways and rough need water and care. The course has a rich history but there are simply better choices for the money.
Challenging course
Fairways are patchy- need rain. Greens are very fast. Donald Ross design is challenging
Hate leaving this review but being honest
Pro shop guys were friendly as could be. When I booked for a buddy and me, it was $75 and hope was course would be up to that amount.
Course was in decent shape but a lot left to be desired for the price point.
- tee boxes (whites) were in rough shape with bare patches
- fairways had a lot of overgrowth of weeds or bare spots
- numerous greens had replacement turf patches (10-20 sq ft worth) on them.
My biggest gripe on this course the pace of play. It took us 80 minutes to play 3 holes. At one point, because of a group of 4, had a logjam of 5 people on one hole. The slow group on the green (that they walked up to while leaving their carts at the 100yd stake, a group in the fairway waiting to hit their 2nd, me waiting on tee to hit drive, the group behind us waiting just off the tee box and a group finishing up on the previous green.
Called the clubhouse to have ranger come out and he did talk with the group but it changed nothing. We ended up skipping a hole to get ahead of them and played 15 holes in 2.5 hours due to no one in front of them and it being wide open for us.
So our $75 paid for 17 holes due to pace of play. If they got 1 or 2 rangers on the course to ensure pace of play or hack the Carts to somehow force groups to play in pace, anything over 3.75 hours for 18 holes is absurd, let alone over 4 hours.
Needs to be way more policed.
Pace of Play
The course was in decent condition. Greens were fast. Bunkers were inconsistent. Fairways good. Pace of Play needs to be monitored. We had a 5 hour round, waiting on every tee.
