What a Great Course
The road up to the course is mighty steep, which is usually a good sign for a hill top lover and this course does not disappoint. Cracking views of mountains and sea.
A fantastic James Braid hilltop layout with some highly imaginative holes. This is quite an arduous walk but the rewards are well worth it. We got lost twice where a sign would have helped and the slow greens took some time to get used to but overall this was a hugely enjoyable and challenging experience that I would have no problem recommending to anyone.
Hills, views and almost complete peace and quiet
This is an excellent course. Tight, blind tee or approach shots on every hole and a great test of your game. It's very hilly so be prepared for a good walk, but oh my God are the views worth it. Stunning in every direction whether it's over to Bangor and Anglesey, across to the mountains or back along the coast to llandudno. Epic and you would have to go a long way to beat them
Amazing value for money with the £15 rate after 3pm. Basically had the entire course to myself. Bumped into two members who were out by themselves and had a chat with them, but other than that did not see a soul.
Minor negatives
Clubhouse needs updating. Felt like stepping back in time to the 70s
Pro shop closed and was difficult to find someone to check in with
Tee boxes needed a good cut
Greens in great condition but a touch slow
Some additional distance markers other than 150y would be helpful
A great course that simply must be experienced.
My favourite course in North Wales. Sometimes gets a bad rep due to its hilly nature, but it is a real challenge and fun to play.
Great views of the Carneddau mountain range and up/down the North Wales coast. Some blind tee shots to keep it interesting, sloping, well kept fairways and decent greens.
It was very windy when we played which went against us on the way out, but helped with some monster drives on the way back in; especially the 16th and 18th which are superb holes.
Simply great fun - we’ll be back in the spring.
Greens much better now, a true golf test
It's a unique and great course that is the way golf was meant to be played. Definitely not for everyone but it's a true test and you need to be accurate on nearly every shot.
The course is very challenging with lots of blind shots (tee and approach) plus it's very very hilly. As it's a hilltop course the wind blows twice as hard than at sea level and this only adds to the test.
The greens were really good for my round. They have improved a lot since I last played this course in the spring. A lot of bunkers have been left to grass over but the course was still very playable with excellent fairways and good tee boxes.
Don't even think of walking this course if you have mobility issues of any kind. £30 for a buggy is the rate for visitors I noticed.
Definitely a club moving in the right direction and I look forward to playing at St Deiniol again in the future...
Course is good
Good lay out and lots of diffrent challenges. Bunkers have been left to grass over, good if your a beginer no sand shots
