Lovely course
Lovely course, great facilities, only let down by amount of plastic tees losing twenty ish yards a hole, it is nearly December though so a little expected
Great course, greens need cutting.
Grabbed a bargain round at the lake course for just £22.52. The course is generally in good condition with good fairways and offers both a challenge and opportunities to score well on some holes.
Mostly temporary tees which you would expect for this time of year. My only gripe would be the conditions of the greens. Whilst they look good and green, they could do with cutting and nearly all greens were bobbly and not running true.
Excellent course
Lovely lay out and design, only negative is greens are very very slow
Needs some love
The course has been used and abused and there are many areas of the facilities that need improvement. Second time there, would only consider again for a cheap deal
Great course, but get out early or wait until the evening
I played as a one ball and whilst let through by two groups, became stuck behind a society of 32. 8 4 balls would be too much. Course Marshall did his best to hurry them along but he gave me a better route to play I could get all the holes in without waiting.
Not ideal and those in the pro shop could have warned.
Stunning course however.
The Lakes in Winter
Such good value playing this picturesque course. Bearing in mind the inclement weather only a few temporary greens but the course was in excellent condition.
Course lay out was somewhat difficult to navigate and a bit disappointing the kitchen was closed at 420pm after our round.
Rate the day overall as pretty perfect and will most definately be back in the near future
Winter tees and greens.
Wasn't told about winter tees and greens. Unable to put any tee in and greens were just a hole with a flag in on uneven ground. The grass around the flag wasn't cut short in a area around the flag like I have experienced at other courses.
An Excellent Course
Very enjoyable game on the Lakes course. Conditions were generally good for the time of year. Will look forward to returning again soon.
Great afternoon
Favourite course I’ve played on, great condition even in mid Feb, lovely layout and use of the lakes and ponds
Can’t wait to go back
A day in the winter Sun
Last minute break away, outstanding service from the staff .Bar staff in the club house friendly and helpful . Can’t wait to return .
Disappointed
I was looking forward to playing the lakes course but sadly disappointed the lady in the club shop didn’t have the best attitude and no reason why the greens wasn’t in play but they all looked very much playable sadly I won’t be rushing back there
Cancelled
Our game was cancelled. How do we receive a refund?
Some holes good but 6&7 are a joke
I play off 10 so know a little about good golf courses and although I got an eagle on 9, the holes 6&7 ruined the course for me. They are basically on the side of a steep slope and was impossible to hold balls on them. Also 1-2 other holes which are blind or have run-offs meant I lost far more balls than I should have done. Play but be warned that these two holes will be card killers.....
Great value
Played as part of a 3 ball and course was in excellent condition considering the recent weather. Pace of play ideal and with the nice weather on the day we had an excellent day out rounded off by a couple of lagers after.
Not a course for winter
Even though all our golfing friends said you don’t touche the Vale Resort in the winter, we gave it a go. They weren’t lying. Temporary tee mates on almost all the holes, and terrible quality ones at that. For a resort that knows it doesn’t cope with bad weather, you would have thought they would invest in either high-quality winter mats like St Pierre or improve the drainage on the tee boxes. We lost so mainly balls on fairways it was laughable. Greens were bumpy and soggy. I know it’s winter, but it was terrible. The staff were friendly enough, but I think they knew how bad it was before we started our round. Within two holes, we caught up with two older gentlemen. I couldn’t work out if they were playing golf or practising their digging skills for the allotment. They didn’t let us through and after nine holes, we just gave up—an abysmal experience. I would imagine it’s an entirely different kettle of fish in the summer, but the taste is so bitter from this experience I’m not sure I would return to try it.
