My favorite hole ! Photo submitted by Golfworld on 10/28/2019
First review
was able to actually walk up in the afternoon to secure a tee time although I was still charged the reservation fee so next time I will call. Course was great and the greens were perfect . Only complaint was the amount of stones and rocks in the sand trap/bunkers. Also could use a few ball washers on the course as a courtesy. Will be back.ex
Saturday at Mill Pond
Staff was good. Course was tight. Pace of play was slow, needed to see more rangers. Course was in descent condition.
Good course but slow pace
Too many hackers. Nobody answers front desk phone. Cart path have too many pot holes
Millpond Golf Club, Medford NY
Millpond is a wonderful links style course that has some very challenging holes and is a fun course to play. The course was in very good condition and the fescue is not quite so scary as it will be when it grows in. I found the greens to be fast and maybe a bit too firm. It was difficult and frustrating to find a well struck iron with a nice high ball flight would land the green and run off into the rough around the green. This was prevalent among my foursome and it made for way too many long putts because the greens would not hold the ball. Still, it is a great course and should challenge any level of players.
Slow Pace
We started 25 mins behind schedule and took us 5 hrs and 10 mins to finish. I understand it was Friday afternoon before the long weekend but over 5 hrs to complete a round is not cool. Part of the problem is 8 mins tee time as opposed to 10 mins like every other courses. We will give it another chance because we like the course layout and its condition but maybe not on Friday afternoon.
Worst day of golf in a long time
Had a 3:12pm reservation. Teed off 20/25 minutes late. When we got on the 1st green, there were 3 groups on the 2nd tee. The whole front nine there were 1 or 2 groups ahead of us waiting to tee off. The front nine took us 2 houses and 50 minutes to complete. We were so disgusted at that point that we decided to quit after 9 holes, even though we paid for 18. We figured we would stop in the clubhouse for a beer. The building was closed and locked up at 6:30pm. I’ve played at Mill Pond approximately 10/15 times in my life and I don’t know where this came from. Will never be back.
Overall Excellent but...
Course was in great shape and have played there many times before and I really enjoy a links style course especially in the spring. Course was well groomed.
My only criticism is that the bunkers have way too many rocks and pebbles embedded in the sand.
It's a really beautiful course and I always find it a challenge to score well for as I'm a high handicapper
I highly recommend this track for golfers of all levels. Enjoy!!!
Great course
Course is in great shape. Greens rolling well. Only thing is pace of play - 5+ hours is the standard. Rangers need to take charge.
Decent Links Style Course
Fair course conditions, challenging layout, and unremarkable pro shop/f&b. Decent value for money.
Pace on Saturday afternoon was very slow (5+/18) but that’s to be expected.
I expected better.
Course wasn’t terrible. However, the Tee-box’s were awful. I’m sure the course will look a lot nicer in a month from now after we get some rain.
We played in about 4 1/2 hours, maybe a few minutes longer, but it seemed to play at a decent pace.
greens aerated recently but in good condition. some of the senior tee boxes need some work but course was in good shape
