Home Away From Home
Always a great experience. Friendly staff, beautiful course, and good food. Truly my favorite place to play and just hang out!

Needs some upgrades
The Lakes - Meadows track is very solid. Heard Fairways is going away for new homes being built. Carts need to be upgraded into the 21st century. Gas power and no GPS is lame. Conditions were very playable but nothing special. Tees are beat up and greens are spotty in places but for the most part roll pretty well. It’s kind of a glorified muni rather than a top flight daily fee course. Let’s see which way Troon wants to take the course.
Beautiful conditions and challenging
Played Centennial many times. To make a long story short:
Teeboxes - decent, fairways - good (minimal divots), greens - great (putts rolled true).
Staff was friendly and food was delicious.
Only negatives was being stuck behind a slow playing threesome and course was 90 degrees. Not much recent rain and course was bone dry.
Challenging course
Challenging hilly course with great views. Very good condition for fee for play course.fast and true greens fair length, lot of walking even with cart.
Course is virtually unplayable and management needs to get woke
Played yesterday for the first time in 18 years with a friend who drove up from NYC because we had reservations to play Lakes/Fairways and then Meadows for a total of 27 holes. (I was already in Carmel for a Dave Pelz course which concluded a day earlier.). The reservation had been made a month earlier.
First, on the course itself. There has been a lot of rain in Carmel. Fairways are swamps in parts and have not been mowed for a long time, so they play like first-cuts with very little role. First-cuts play like seconds and seconds like thirds. Also, even at 5841 yards, the white tees are still too far back to give mid-high handicappers or seniors decent chances to score, especially on par 4s, even if the course was dried and mowed. Also, many of the cart paths are just crumbling asphalt . . . reminiscent of roads in third world countries, and not what one would expect from courses of this potential caliber. And bunker sand Is just plain dirty and mediocre at best. Lastly, carts are old and gas powered with no GPS. Get with the program Troon and spend some money on maintenance and upgrades! Centennial plays like a $60/round Westchester County Municipal Course. If you are going to charge $120/round, then earn it!
Second, on the management. While we were on the 17th hole of Lakes/Fairways, a ranger came by to tell us that Meadows had been closed due to a decision to let a youth group tournament play it. Bear in mind that our reservation was made a month ago and we were told nothing when we checked in for the day. Had we known that we could not have played all three of the 9-hole courses, my friend would not have made the trip. We were offered a replay rain-check or an opportunity to replay one of the 9s we had just finished, but asked for a refund, which we got. Sorry, people, but when you take reservations, you need to honor them or provide timely notice. Troon should know better.
Great Layout - Green Just OK - Can be Expensive
Play Centennial almost once a week. Great layout tee to green. Huge elevation changes, water etc... Green complexes are huge and that's where the course gets tough. The greens never seem to be in great shape no mater what time of year. The staff at times can be lacking, lazy and just not super friendly. Also if you pay advertised rate you'll be disappointed and its not worth the standard rates. Many deals out there so look online for deals before you go.
Beautiful conditions.
Had to play cart path only, which anyone who knows the Centennial, knows that stinks. But, the course doesn't maintain it's beauty by them letting people drive all over the fairways if they're moist. If you don't like walking a lot, definitely call to check the cart path situation before going.
That aside, this is my favorite course to play within any reasonable driving distance of Carmel. Challenging holes are complimented nicely with easier holes, and some of the views are breathtaking. The Centennial is a must play for anyone who enjoys golf. It does cost a little more than your average golf course, but in exchange you get a course that is definitely more than average.
tough pin placement and some greens extremely tough.. course great shape would recommend. If $30 cheaper would play way more
Centennial is truely a championship course!
One of the best courses ive played in my life, its challenging its well maintained, the food is amazing, their practice facility's are absolutely amazing if u haven't played u need to!
For all the rain the area has had the course was in great condition. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and I highly recommend this course. I hope to play again soon.
Very wet conditions.
Very wet conditions. Results = not finding your ball in the fairway on good shots. Slippery conditions on slopes when walking.
OMG!!
What a treat and must play. Absolutely impossible to walk it. Significant elevation changes/ aqua. Two holes had at least 50 steps up or down to get to the green. Played Lakes and meadows. If you think that riding in a cart is going to prevent any exercise- you are way wrong. A real cool challenge. You will go thru a sleeve of balls, maybe all on the same hole. Vistas are spectacular. Riding from hole to hole is thru the woods, and hundreds of yards. Great staff. More like a Vermont course.
Give it a shot. Way cool
aerated Greens
Centennial is normally a very good course, except when it's Cart Path Only, which it was. Very difficult to get though a round on a very hilly course without the use of a cart. Tee Boxes from the White tees Were in Bad shape and the Greens were Bumpy and Aerated . we were not informed. some of the issues were due to the extremely Rainy Season.
