Putting on the moon
Course management is terrible, all the tees are facing the wrong direction with unmarked tee numbers. The greens feel like you’re putting on mars
Fairways were in good condition, but the greens are not being looked after at all. I appreciate the weather has been particularly hot, but they were completely scorched and are in desperate need of regular watering.
Gower Golf Course
Played here 3 years ago, conditions were very good however this time greens were in poor condition and bunkers were terrible, stoney, lacked sand, lots of weeds and poorly raked.
Course layout though is excellent with some very challenging holes. Would like to come back but course and clubhouse needs investment.
Very poor condition
The course was in desperate need for the fairways to be cut, and we couldn’t differentiate between fairways and rough. Fairways were also full of daisy’s, combine this with the length of grass, made it very difficult to find our balls even when we hit them straight. This massively increased playing time! To top it off, there were 3 teenage girls messing about on a buggy, screaming loudly and being extremely irritating whilst we were coming down the 17th and 18th (they were not playing just driving around). Very frustrating all round, and if I wasn’t in a rush to get home I would have complained and asked for my money back!!
Great Golf Club
The course was in very good condition for the majority of the holes. Greens were very fast and nice to play on. We took a buggy out which was a great addition and it really helped us with some of the more hilly holes. Club house and facilities are great and the scenery is outstanding on the front 9. I will be back.
Recent reviews accurate
Despite recent reviews I decided to play here. After all, the price is reasonable and I used to play here years ago and have very fond memories.
It's such a disappointment coming back. The course layout is amazing and has spectacular views. With minimal effort this course could be fantastic. With some TLC, membership could easily be £1500, instead they'd rather charge £600 and have every man and his dog join. Holes 8-11 is the best 4 hole run, in terms of layout, of anywhere I've played.
Sadly, there are many things wrong with the course.
I arrived at 3pm, wanting to get a buggy. Pro shop was closed.
I'll be honest the tees and fairways were better than expected (given recent reviews) but some of the greens were atrocious and really inconsistent in why they were bad; cracked, muddy, sandy, varying lengths of grass, weeds etc. It made putting almost pointless at times.
Many of the members have no business being anywhere near a golf course of this calibre and have no pride of ownership. This is emphasised by cigarette ends and packets, beer cans and bottle tops that you find on fairways, in the rough and floating in water hazards on your way around. Its disgusting. No etiquette at all being adhered to, from dress code through to people just yelling at their friends on the same hole (which is hugely off putting). Thank god I got out before it got busy! Do not go anywhere near this course at busy times!
I was held up significantly for about 8 holes by a 2 ball....you all know the sort. The kind that takes ages deciding what club to take, deliberating range, takes 4-5 practice swings and then thins the ball 20 yards. Infuriating to be stuck behind. I got so fed up that I ended up driving while they were still on the hole, going about 150 yards past them on their 3rd shot and just playing through them.
When I finished playing I went to collect a scorecard as I'd scored well and wanted to keep a record. The barman came marching at me (I was in the lobby) and tried making me to pay for the round. He wouldn't accept I'd paid online. He asked for my name and tee time, in the end I just showed him my booking reference and left. Its funny that they put effort into trying to intimidate paying customers, but are happy to leave groups of children and teenagers hide in bushes and muck about playing on the course. I could see a 2 ball behind me waiting on the tee for roughly 10 mins before teeing off as they didn't want to hit the children.
I can't emphasise enough how disappointing it is as the course has the potential to be beautiful.

Litter everywhere, even on fairways and floating in water hazards. No etiquette being adhered to; loud players calling to each other (hugely distracting).

Very different course to the one from 20 years ago.
Do not use Gower Golf Club
I live locally to Gower Golf Course. I used to play it often, almost considered joining in 2019, but I ended up in Pontardawe. I played Gower in 2021 in a team match. The course was in good condition, not what I recommend to someone but it was playable. I went down for the first time in two years yesterday and wow, it has gone down hill quicker than a putt on the 16th at Augusta. To start with, I wanted a bottle of beer, there was none in the fridge. The bar wasn’t even fully open, the male member of staff. Was not helpful at all. I went to tee off, the tee boxes were not cut low and not cut very well. The bunkers, as you will see below were horrific. They were full of stones and rocks. There is no sand in them at all. The bunkers look like the luftwaffe have had a good at them. I also, could not use the bathroom as there was no toilet roll, anywhere. Overall. A horrendous course and clubhouse. Do not play here. Don’t even go down for a pint. What a waste of time.
Course winter layout not clearly signed, flags were laid out on some greens and not in holes. It was bad weather which can’t be helped but I walked off after 8 holes because of the course not the weather.
Road trip
The course was tricky , not the longest but some challenging holes. I loved the course , steep in places and not much room for error at back of the greens. The views were amazing and the members Very chatty and friendly . The only downside was the greens, spongy and patched in places . For the money well worth a visit
Shocking Greens
Really great staff and great members who are very helpful and friendly but the greens were very poor and made the experience very poor unfortunately.
Some challenging holes. Beautiful backdrops. Really friendly clubhouse and around the course. Played with 7 of my mates at 2 different tee times, overall really good course.
Stunning views
Great course - well maintained - great facilities and helpful staff - all players met on the green and in the clubhouse were very welcoming to us even as non regulars. Bit confusing on the winter tees having not played here previously but will definitely visit again for a summer game.
Winter Course
Played course for first time and unfortunately a few too many temps both greens and whole holes particularly 8and 17 . saw a couple of exceptional holes that were unfortunately closed on way around. Back 9 we’re far better than front 9
Scenic parkland course
Gower GC has gone through a few changes over the years, but is now maturing nicely. Some challenging holes, some with stunning views over the Lougher estuary.
Reasonable green fees, and a nice club house and pro shop.
A little off the beaten track to find (give yourself time to find it!), but worth it to have the peaceful and tranquil surrounds.
Very busy on the day we went (Saturday Medsl day), but not unusual as most clubs do this

Went to the clubhouse to pay for the round as the shop wasn’t open, the guy serving behind the bar wasn’t very helpful or friendly! The holes was ok, despite constantly having leaves and bits of tree on them! Not clear instructions of where to go either at some points of the course but the fairways were good in fairness. My only other issue was the rude older man who claimed he was the course manager and quizzed us we hadn’t paid even though having a scorecard(which we discovered was a winter scorecard) was enough proof and from that point it just seemed he was following us around.
Grrrr8
Great welcome. Great weather. Great course showing some wear and tear. Overall fab.
