Course was in great condition, but slow players
Course was in great condition, but got stuck behind a slow twosome. No Ranger to be found. Only one porta potty on all 18 holes and no cart or beverage person. That being said, I definitely play the course again.
Stunning Mountain View’s
It’s early November, course still in great condition, we missed the tree’s popping color by a few weeks but to be sure it was stunning! A few foursomes in front of us played slow…..Clubhouse food selection was very limited but it is late in the season!
By TeeOff I played here very low price on Sunday.
The golf course was Fantastic and all shapes of holes were very challenging. There were 5 tee boxes, Gold(7200 yard), black (6700), white (6300), blue(5700) and red(5200). All levels of golfers can be enjoyed this golf course with reasonable price. I will come back soon and play this tremendous golf course again.
Wow
With the leaves in full fall colors, this was hands down the prettiest course I've ever played. The conditions were surprisingly great for this late in the season. The fairways we're wide and easy to hit, but trees a few yards off and well placed bunkers made each hole challenging. Playing from the whites, I didn't feel like any hole was too long to be unfair. Most holes gave a good chance at birdie with a decent first two shots. My only complaint would be that the greens were fast and sloped enough that they were almost unfair. You could barely tell they aerated a few weeks ago. If your ball was more than 15 feet away, you were probably looking at a three putt. I payed $80 for the first tee time on a Saturday, and it felt like a steal. I wished I lived closer.
Fantastic Mountain Course
Has everything…Condition,Picturesque,Fair but challenging..
Room off the tee which is nice but also challenging..
Played white tees..From the tips they could hold a PGA event here…Wish it wasn’t so far to get to..Would play all the time..
Great experience
Excellent course- well maintained - very nice conditions.
Friendly staff
Very friendly staff . The gentleman that was the starter was so friendly.
Great Day Out
Greens had been aerated a couple of days earlier, course reduced rates, kudos to them, no one is doing that anymore, just collect and go.
Course makes you think and challenges your ability, always enjoy my time there.
$85 on weekends is not in my budget but will come back when a deal is available.
A top place to play
I'm from MD and have never played golf in this region before. I met a friend from Upstate NY and we played 2 courses in the area. I've played perhaps 300 different courses over the last 50 years and would rate this one in the top 10. It was wet from lots of rain and the 90-degree cart rule was necessary. It was cold and windy the morning we teed off at 7:10, the second tee time of the day. The staff, everyone, was so wonderful, unforgettable, from the moment we pulled into the lot. The course is tough, but we had great fun. So picturesque that we took numerous pictures of the scenery and wildlife. The kind woman at the bar even took a picture of the two of us, and suggested we'd get a better shot outside. We finished the 9th hole in 40-mph wind at the top of the mountain, but it wasn't as windy elsewhere. I would play here every week if I lived closer. It is unique, and simply stunning. Play here!! We will be back.
Hidden gem
Course in great shape and beautiful views. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The variety of driving range, pitching area and sand trap areas are wonderful.. we love the course and layout. Has something for every level of golfer. Tee boxes, fairways and greens have always been in great shape. Pace of play very enjoyable. We have played a couple other local courses and will only play JFN now. Fees are very reasonable. Our new home course. Bravo JFN!
Excellent Challenge Surrounded by Nature
First time playing JFN and it will not be the last. During travel, we made our tee time from hundreds of miles away and learned upon arrival it was strict cart path only. No complaints, it really needed to be because there were seriously soft conditions tee to green and we learned they had nearly 4 inches of rain in the previous two days. Carts would have destroyed the course in short order. I can only imagine how much this affected the playing experience in terms of ball roll; There was little to none unless the slope of the fairway was downward and in line with the flight of your ball
Fortunately the soft conditions allowed the greens to hold well and the greens were cut and rolled nicely and played consistently. Did that help our putting? No. We had zero course knowledge and those familiar but subtle mountainside differences had us under and over shooting our target again and again until we adapted.
Fortunately, we had plenty of time to analyze each putt in great detail as the two players ahead of us had no intention of letting us play through and very little understanding in regard to course ,cart, and club management in an extreme cart path only situation. They must have been new to the game as they were clearly unaware and unconcerned about pace of play standards given playing ability. While the ranger drove by three times on the front nine, there was zero improvement in pace of play and things actually slowed further heading into the turn. The result was a 3 hour front nine! Yes folks, that's a 20 minutes per hole average. Those players quit after nine and so did my wife who was exhausted so I alone finished the back nine in 1 hour and thereby average out the 18 LOL.
We could have raised a fuss with the Ranger but we were out there to have a good time and it's clear that the ladies ahead were struggling with both the game and the conditions and they were there to have fun too. Back to the course.
Awesome layout, teeming with nature. We saw Birds and bees and wildlife everywhere. At least a half dozen deer were seen roaming about. Just beautiful and we would absolutely love to play this course in the Fall.
Things we loved: Great tee boxes! Flat and square. Excellent fairways, carpet like. and obviously well cared for. Manicured bunkers with some understandably waterlogged. Unbelievable number of bunkers but all very avoidable with smart decision making and proper club choice. Very nice practice area and range. A great place to learn as a beginner or test your skills as an advanced player.
All staff encountered at Jack Frost were kind and welcoming. We'd return for their company alone! Overall what a gem.
