Mountain View
Course is laid out well with forgiving fairways and enough bunkers and water hazards to keep a beginning/novice golfer on their toes. Greens were well kept and a challenge with the pin placements. Definitely will be back. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Only problem were the sprinklers in the middle of the day and how they were surprising hazards lol.
Oustand golf outting, again
Mountain View Golf Club is always a great play to enjoy a day of golf with family and friends. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
Bad day
My wife and I were looking forward to playing this course as It had been a number of years since the last time there. All went well with the check in and with the starter but that's where it ended. Just across the from the first tee there were four workers weed wacking who continued wacking during our tee offs. Additionally further down the fairway there were several more workers weed wacking non-stop during our 2nd shots. It only got worse from there. On every hole there were sprinklers running in the fairways that always seemed to be placed where our drives landed. Numerous times we had to duck the water even just to retrieve our ball. On one hole my drive hit the water stream and was kicked back some 75 yards or more. On many of the holes there was a worker who would drive onto the fairway to move the sprinklers further up the fairway, again in our way, regardless of the fact the we were preparing to hit a shot. All of the holes we played were saturated with water and several were "flooded". Additionally we followed a foursome who not only would not let us play through several of them were constantly hitting several drives on every hole and then riding back and forth to retrieve balls. We decided after playing 9 holes that the frustrations were not worth completing the final 9 holes and left the course. Obviously we have no intentions of returning to Mt. View in the future. This was the worse golf experience that I can remember through the years of playing the game.
Great value
This is a beautiful course in the valley. Well maintained very friendly staff.
Course is played out really well
The staff is very friendly and the superintendent and his crew do an all some job taking care the course.
Beautiful views and friendly staff
A very nice course with scenic views. The staff was super friendly and accommodating.
The reason I marked 1star for amenities was that the concession area was closed due to the season.
I plan on playing again.
starter started!
was great. starter moved our 4some to avoid so play. teed off on 4 no delays. nice course
Great course great views
This course is under-rated which is a good thing to keep the price down, but it's usually in perfect condition! The greens roll exceptionally true and the fairways and tee boxes are all well maintained. It's "open" but also makes you keep the ball in play and make good shots or your score will get out of hand quickly.
Greens, tee boxes and fairways were in great shape. Staff was extremely friendly. Can't ask for more than that !
worth the drive
This course is enjoyable to play. The greens were airreated recently but it is that time of year. My biggest gripe is the bunkers, where is the sand. The bunkers were filled with dirt and not sand. Had a good time playing this course and will go back again.
Always a great day of golf
This course never disappoints. The course is great shape.
What sets this course apart from other nice courses is the way the staff treats you. Everyone is so polite. The clubhouse attendant, the starter, the ranger, both of the snack bar ladies, the beer cart girl, and the young man that puts away the carts was extremely nice and polite.
Conditions - It had a couple of wet spots from the inch of rain the night before. The starter told us that holes 1, 2, 17, and 18 were cartpath only, which is understandable. When my foursome was on the 11th tee, the ranger came around and told us that 17 and 18 were no longer cartpath only, which was very courteous of him.
Value - We got a hot deal from Golfnow and it was a little cheaper than the regular rate - not much cheaper. This course's rates are always very reasonable - much better than the more famous course down the road.
Pace of play was acceptable for a Sunday afternoon. The foursome in front of us had 1 guy tee off 4 times and took 6 practice swings and 17 waggles in between each one, so we didn't actually tee of at our tee time, but eventually he ran out of balls and their pace picked up.
I can't wait to play again!
Nice course for the money
Played on a warm afternoon. Course was not crowded, and we played in just over 3 1/2 hours. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape, although a couple of tee boxes had some slope in them. Greens were a good pace, not too slow, although there are a lot of subtleties in reading them. Many fairway hazards to avoid from the tee - bunkers, some water, OB. Pay attention to yardage, you do not need to hit driver very often. Par 5s are short and reachable. The front 9 is much more open than the back. Clubhouse is a fantastic old Civil War era house. Grill had decent food, but no beer on tap.
