Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club - Lost Gold Course
About
The Lost Gold Course at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club stays true to the club's name with a layout that snakes across the desert landscape of the Superstition Mountains. It is one of two golf courses at the club designed by Jack Nicklaus and his sons, the other being the harmoniously named Prospector Course. Both golf courses have the signature risk-and-reward design that is a Nicklaus trademark. The Lost Gold Course has strategic bunker placements and smaller greens of the two courses, giving it a higher shot value. The links-style design features generous fairways and water hazards that come into play on a few holes.

Top track
It was top notch track! If anyone can play this course it's a must.
Great chance to play a Nicklaus course at a great value.
Typical Nicklaus course with generous landing areas but progressive trouble towards the green . Course was not busy and allowed a leisurely play around a great track. For the right price it is definitely worth playing.
Scenery is great
Course is very fair with wide fairways but is well bunkered and has fast undulating greens.
Everything was excellent, very challenging greens.
From the moment we drove thru the gate the professionalism of the staff was reflected by the way we were treated. Above all this golf course was the most important. The golf course was challenging but yet fair. One was required to use all the shots in the bag. Thanks again, will be back.
A must play if you are in the Phoenix
This course was in excellent shape. The fairways were fabulous and the greens were challenging. The mountains and scenery are beautiful. Staff were all friendly and helpful. It is a bit pricey to play there but the conditions and complimentary range balls, coffee, water and ice made it worth-while. Will definitely play there again if we visit the Phoenix area.
Everything was ideal.
The course was in wonderful shape. The setting was beautiful. The people were friendly and pace of play was fast. One of my top favorite courses in the Phoenix area.
Top 5 MUST PLAY in Phoenix
Enjoy all the makings of a Private Club, but at Open to the Public rates without ever being made to feel like you don't really belong. The entire place, from 1st impressions upon entering the gates, to the awesome clubhouse, the inside staff, outside services staff, practice facilities and both 18 hole courses; it is A+ all the way!!
Gorgeous views
We got a killer deal at this course in December. Chatted with the golf pro for a few minutes before tee-ing off. I mentioned that I had a "funny stance" while tee-ing off. He actually showed up at the 8th hole and gave me some excellent pointers. Great guy, great course, awesome time!
great course
we got a great del on golf now, but would pay up to 100 to play here. 1st class service and golf course. driving is generous, but then the funs begin, greens are well guarded by bunkers, and greeens are super fast and have suddle breaks extremly difficult to lag putt no room for error. one of my top 3 courses in the valley.
great condition, fast greens.
Other than being cold, and hailing for the first three holes, it was a great day.
Wonderful Private Club Experience
One of the Greater Phoenix most prestigious courses in immaculate condition. Greens rate 13 on Stimpmeter but are very manageable. Available to the public and affordable through GolfNow. Highly recommended.
great course
what a fantastic course, every thing went well We were treated just like members from the bag drop area to the pro shop and the starter.
played lost gold course-been playing golf for 50 years-this is the best course ever
even the rough was immaculate-like we were the only ones out there-some phantom breaks on the greens-but they were great-this course is better than tpc stadium-you felt like a millionaire out there.
Stunning views from every hole
This course is set in a beautiful Sonoran desert with great views. The staff was very helpful and easy to deal with. The course was in excellent shape even though it had rained the past 2 days. The started suggested playing one tee box back if I wanted to stay out of the bunkers. Good advice. The fairways narrowed down at the landing areas. The greens were the fastest I have ever played on and rolled true. It is a private course open to the public on a limited basis.... It does not get heavy play, therefore a quicker round on fairways that are not filled with divots. I felt like a member in the way I was treated. Beautiful practice area, clubhouse, and facilities.... The LPGA played here for 5 years and loved it, and I can see why.
Worth It!!!
Nothing to stay but one of the best courses I haved played. Greens top notch shape and fairways pirstine. I did the twilgiht rate and was able to get in 18.
Again highly recommend if you can play it.
Excellent golf course!
I had played here 11 months ago and was so impressed that I brought a friend to share the experience. We both concluded it was among the top courses we have played on in Phoenix. For average golfers it doesn't beat you up.Very good service, top notch range (really like the pyramid ball stacks), great facilities and course is in excellent shape. We'll be back!
Prospector - very fast greens (what's the stimp in the summer?)
Well it's Jack Nicklaus course so it should be nice and it is.
Pros: Great shape, nice greens, a really nice layout.
Cons: You are no longer a PRIVATE course so you should treat those paying customers who are keeping your course alive a little better. I would love to play the other 18 but the staff in the pro shop, the starter, and some of the members need to remind themselves of this fact.
The greenside bunkers need sand that can adapt to this climate, it's crusty and hard. This works great from the fairways.
wide fairways
long drives are required // must play the right tee boxes // greens are true and fast
Excellent course condition, greens were perfect
Golf course, greens and range were all in excellent condition. Staff was courteous and friendly. Friends were in town and all were impressed with Superstition Mtn. Worth the drive from north Scottsdale.
Luxury Golf Experience
The good stuff:
-Amazing value: paid only $89 and it was our favorite course of the trip (even more than TPC).
-Greens were fast, true, and very well maintained.
-Scenery was always beautiful with the mountains in the background. There were also some very expensive homes to look at that surrounded the golf course.
-The clubhouse is a castle and the merchandise in the pro-shop was all high-class stuff (a little pricey though).
-The staff were very friendly and helpful. The starter gave us the best intro we could hope for.
-Big concrete coolers filled with chilled bottle water are found many times at the tee boxes.
-The layout was challenging but fun.
-Pace of play was great - we only caught up to the group in front of us on #17 and never saw a group behind us.
The bad stuff:
-Not very much elevation change. This hardly belongs in the "bad stuff" section because the layout makes up for the lack of hills.
