Most beatiful course ever, bring your camera

My title says it all. The course has a great layout fun and challenging holes. Lots of wildlife to see and of course the unreal, beautiful Red Rocks that surround the entire course. Bring the camera cause you will want to snap a few pics. I had to wait and scare off about 12-15 wild boar eating grass around the Tee box at hole #2. Perfect condition, tee box, fairways, and greens. The price I paid was $60 and I would pay it again. All I could say when I steeped on every tee box was WoW. Im glade I was able to play here Thanks to my girlfriend who paid for me to play for a gift for my birthday when we stayed at the unbelievable Enchantment resort in Sedona tow miles from the course. Ill be back for my bachelor party to teeit up with my best men. Cant wait!!!

7 Canyons needs some attention but is worth the trip from the Valley

7 Canyons has been on my hitlist ever since it opened. I love Weiskopf's Silverleaf in Scottsdale and it is my understanding that he was trying to take that caliber of course and put it in Sedona. After reading all the mixed reviews here, I was a bit disheartened but decided to make the trek up there anyway.

Let me preface this by saying that I am a 'golf snob' and am very particular of golf courses. Maybe it's because I didn't have high expectations going into it, I ended up really enjoying 7 Canyons and recommend anyone to go play it now before it goes private in September.

The setting of the course is ridiculous - absolutely stunning with elevation, very few homes/villas. and tucked among the Sedona red rock mountains. On just about every tee box you're saying "wow!" I would describe the course condition as "average". Fairways, tees, and greens need attention and were clearly not in the condition Weiskopf intended but it was playable. I'm guessing the greens were stimping out at an eight. The staff were extremely friendly but there was no beverage cart (but they did allow coolers - or did for us). The range was kind of ratty but balls were included. I was surprised and disappointed that back tee only measured 6750 yds. Yardage books were $11 but I strongly suggest the investment so you know where you're going.

Overall, 7 Canyons was worth the money and the drive. Check it out while you still can.

Beautiful views, but....

This course has the best red rock views of any Sedona course. The problem is, it is poorly maintained and poorly signed. Lots of scruffy lies and when you have a bunker shot, you hit the liner! They have been in bankruptcy and it shows. The staff was also very indifferent. It could be a great course with some TLC.

Great Staff!

Okay, the course was in terrible shape. The greens and fairways were aerated about a month ago and the laxk of water, and attentiona has left the fairways and greens extremely bumpy, and nearly impossible to get a good line. Their were a lot of burnt out spots, and spots where you could imagine water from the sprinkler system pooled up, and drowned the life out of the grass. HOWEVER, the staff were excellent, from outside services to the Golf Shop to the Bar/Grill, all were very friendly, and the Lunch I had was very tasty.

Unknown to us course was being aerated tee to green

You can not argue the beauty of the course setting and the layout is typical Weiskopf (blind tee shots, tricky greens, elevation changes and a couple of tricked up holes) however.......
Bob at the Gate, Dmitri at the Pro Shop & Cole at Bag Drop were very cordial yet no one mentioned to us that the entire course was distressed and being aerated. We paid the "hot deal" price, still $150 for two of us. Had we paid rack rates, I would have stopped at 7 (the turn) and requested a refund. Speaking of the turn, you are not allowed to buy a beer or a cocktail unless you are a member. We Did have 4 bottles of water provided in our cooler at no charge.

Such a shame to have such a beautiful setting yet the course is in such poor condition. Caveat emptor to those who will be paying the $100,000 initiation fee in a month or so when the course goes private. Again. Hopefully, your money will help them provide you better course conditions than we experienced.

Stunning views but need your A-game - lots of trouble

This course had stunning views of the canyons around Sedona. However, it was VERY challenging golf. You could not make any errant shots as there was no forgiveness. My husband is a very serious, single digit golfer and he struggled because of not knowing where to hit the ball or what club to use. It was also very challenging for me - an intermediate golfer. You had to have your A-game to play this course because there was an obstacle for every errant shot. It was the type of course that you have to play on a regular basis to know where to hit the ball and what club to use. It was overkill on the placement of course hazards and took the fun out of the day. The course is also very poorly marked. The course was not crowded, but we spent a lot of time figuring out where to go and trying to determine where to play the ball. To make matters worse, the greens had just been aerified. The views were stunning, but you must have your A-game to play and have an enjoyable round of golf.

give it some time

they did not advise they had plugged the greens and fairways, we drove 2 hours to find this out, no discount, should have at least made the cost more applicable to the conditions. no water on course, no cart service on course, it was 100 degrees. course is undergoing new management/ownership, good reason, still, should have made conditions know to us when we booked, very disappointed, would not recommend it too anyone, bad experience, should have been given a rain check for future round when course was in better shape, might have been able to enjoy the fabulous views. mark spray

Great practice facility

The greens were in poor condition but had been punched and sanded to work on the problem.. Would have been 5 stars otherwise. Great practice facility.

If this course wasn't in such a beautiful setting, it would cost half or less. Hope the new owners can turn it around.

The carts are worn out. The greens have bare spots. The course is generally in sad shape.

When we checked in, we were informed that the driving range is extra for rounds purchased online and the charge they wanted was $10 per person.

Great Course, great views of the canyons, a great experience

A true delight that golfers should not miss. A tough Weiskopf-designed course, but not unfair. Windy in the afternoon makes it even more challenging. This is a course not many people seem to know about, and it is all their loss for not knowing about this wonderful 18 holes.

Problems

I've played Seven Canyons in the past and, although the course design isn't great, the views have always made up for it. At a price of $140 per player I assumed the course would be in great condition but I was in for a surprise.

We teed off at 11:00 and assumed there would be a beverage cart but it was non-existent. No bev cart on a Saturday morning? Needless to say I wouldn't recommend Seven Canyons due to the fact that there is no value in it. Conditions were less than average and it seems they are letting it go. Not enough bang for the buck.

Beautiful views, tough back 9.

I enjoyed playing 7 canyons but was frustrated on the back 9 by tight fairways, dog legs, and approaches.
Gorgeous scenery made it a great experience.

good but needs work

My understanding is that the course is in bankruptcy. They are not spending much on upkeep. Course needs lots of work. You can see that it could be a great course. I wouldn't pay the $140 they are asking on their website but the $80 we paid was worth it. Many great views. Take a camera. A good challenge.

Not really worth the trip.

I've been wanting to play this course for awhile and finally did and was disappointed. The course needs a lot of work and has been let go. It has some pretty views but not as much as some of the other courses in the area. The 18th hole was a dud as you would think should be a great finishing hole, Not. I don't think I will return to play as there are better courses for the money.

Great views, Believe it. If you are not a member, do not play this course.

The coolest thing was the Vice President Joe Biden & his 30+ secret service agents were on the course. For the money you pay you would expect a super friendly staff and beverage cart on the course. We were told because we were the public they couldn't serve us a beer & their alcohol license was for members only(WHAT?). This was a reality check to know that this actually happens. If you play this course, remember, "I told you so." I recommend you play Oak Creek CC or Sedona Golf Resort. HIt them straight & repair those divots...

Try to keep your head down

The challenge of this course, in addition to the sand traps and undulating greens, is the picturesque RED ROCK location. I play once a year just for the scenery, as the cost is a bit steep compared to others in the area. It is a must at least once in your life.

Most scenic round of golf I ever played

Course was in good condition and the staff was very helpful. Best part of the day, however, was the spectacular views on just about every hole. I also found the course to be less difficult than it looks. I usually spend less for a round on golf but this round was well worth the the money.
