Broadlands Golf Club
About
Broadlands Golf Club in North Prairie is one of the most popular public golf courses in the Milwaukee area and also one of southeastern Wisconsin's best values. With a wide-open, virtually treeless landscape, the course has a traditional links design. It offers plenty of challenges but it is also not overly difficult for high handicappers. Water comes into play on a few holes, mostly on the front nine. Emphasis is placed on proper club selection, especially for the finishing hole, a downhill par 3 with bunkers and native grasses framing the two-tiered green. It is an especially tough hole on a windy day. The golf course is versatile and accommodates a wide range of skill levels. Its playability has made it a popular host for amateur tournaments and outings. Broadlands Golf Club also has a driving range for golfers to use.

Nice course, good value, poor pace of play
I've played here many times. Very decent golf course, fun layout and conditions are pretty good. And for $25, a real value. But their pace of play is consistently poor, especially on weekends. I think I found out why.
I booked the round as single. I arrived about 50 minutes before my tee time. As I was checking in, I asked the guy inside--who seems to always be grumpy--if there was a possibility that I could start early. "Absolutely not" I was told. I replied, "booked solid, huh?" He said they were.
Didn't feel like hitting balls so I went to work on the short game. The putting green is within sight of the first tee. They have a starter. But I certainly didn't see people lined up waiting to tee off----like usual. So after about 10 of not seeing anyone tee off, or even look like anyone was ready to go, I went and asked the starter if I could go. Same answer. No way. So I went back to putting. Watched a two some tee off and leave. Then I watched another two some tee off and leave. Another two some pulled up to the tee. So I went over to the starter and asked about why all these two somes were teeing off while at the very least, I could have joined one of them? He sort of seemed kind of puzzled but then said, "Ok, you can join that two some." So I went up and introduced myself, but they seemed like they wanted to play alone. So I asked them if they'd rather play by themselves and they said they would prefer to do that. So I said, "do you mind if I tee off, catch the two some in front and play with them?" They said no problem. So I tee off, pop one down the middle and off I go. I'm on the first green, and here comes the marshal. "Please sir, we don't like singles out here playing because people start complaining about pace of play." I informed them they have a pace of play problem because they let two somes tee off when they should be paired up as a group of four. And that they could have paired me up with another two some instead of having this cluster on the first tee. The starter---a good starter--- could easily do this and make this much better. Other than pace of play, I give the course above average marks.
Broadlands, Always a fun round!
The Broadlands course offers generous landing areas that are nicely augmented by strategically placed fairway bunkers. Likewise, most green complexes feature ample, nicely contoured and manicured putting surfaces that are well protected by greenside bunkers. The course makes excellent use of the diverse terrain.
The bar staff is particularly hospitable!
The Broadlands is always an enjoyable golf destination for players of all skill levels.
October Golf
The course was in nice shape for October. Greens were in very nice condition.
Golf in the rain
Played as a single in the rain
Despite difficult conditions the course conditions were better than expected
Great value
Great course with a really fantastic layout. The greens were a bit furry which I thought impacted keeping the ball on line, but they were fairly true and fast enough. Conditions for mid October were really great.
Lovely
I was excited to come back and play the course for the second time! The front nine is tougher than the back so be prepared! It’s a great place to play in the layout is really pretty. Challenging with ample fairways. Very well maintained. My lower rating is simply because we played during fall aeration. The greens were really not compatible. It’s a good idea to check around this time of year and maybe wait a week following aeration to play. Also, the pace of play on this particular Saturday was very slow. I think the Rangers could’ve done more to help move things along. Hard to understand what offers are doing on the grades should be giving clients with conditions like these.
Nice Course
The course was in good fall conditions. A few too many divots in the greens (I fixed as many as I could). Overall a very enjoyable day golfing.
Snail pace
18 holes at close to 5 hours is no way to play golf. Love the course though. One of my favorites
Open layout
Heard Broadlands had some fungus issues early in the year. Waited to play and it paid off with a great day in September. No issues. Also, greens were in great shape.
Weekend golf
Waited on every single shot so pace was not great. Still an enjoyable day with my son and son in law
