Cold day but fair
It's was kind of cold around the first 4 holes but later on got cool and the weather was getting better. As for my game I'm a begginer so a lot of double boggies but I had a good time.
Check in guy didn't ruin it
Guy at check in counter not friendly ...people at snack bar were great as was the cart girl
Decent value, in surprisingly decent shape where it matters
The tee boxes and greens are actually really nice, and for casual golfers, not a bad option in a town with woefully bad golf course selection. For the location and price, not a bad way to fit in a relatively quick round without spending a lot. I've seen the course in much rougher conditions in the past, so hopefully whatever they are doing now will continue.
No Complaints
I am about a 20 handicap mostly because I really suck at putting. For really good golfers I suppose this course would be rather easy. However I think the greens are smaller than many courses. They were however in excellent shape. Golf is Good!!! AND at this course actually affordable
Fun course
I'm a beginning golfer this course is just right for me and their are a few holes that can be a challenge for an experienced golfer
West end is coming back
I've been coming to west end for years now and I'll have to say the course is coming back. There seems to been a push to maintain the course and it shows. The show room is still lacking and the supplies are somewhat lacking. They never seem to have any large gloves ever. The food they offer is a big plus. Cart Girls are friendly, and the driving range is clean.
Some things they need to work on, making sure it's cart path only when it's wet. Add no carts markers on the skirts. Reminders on cart and cart paths to fix ball marks and fill divots. I believe this will help with the cart tracks and the bad spotting in some areas of the fairway where people tend to drive their carts like maniacs.
Secondly they need to replace ball cleaners, fix yardage markers on the tee boxes, and maintain a better tee time schedule. The rangers/ starters need to also manage the players a bit better. Being boxed in a bunch of groups or having a 4 sum not letting faster players through is a pain.
Also roping of certain sections of the cart path to stop players from driving off in certain areas killing grass would help as well.
Lastly, the tee boxes need to be flattened, sand needs to be available also. They are very unlevel and starting to arch from age. The grass tees at the range also need to be flattened and regrassed. Basically hitting out of dirt all the time.
Great day of Golfing
This is a nice course if you are looking to get an inexpensive round in. Most days even on walk-in it is $23 for a round including your cart. Golfnow.com specials range from $8 to $17 for a round which makes it even better. A bonus is being able to play in the evening under the lights. Overall, the course and staff are welcoming and make for a great budget friendly round of golf.
good par 3 course
Good course short and challenging. Grass filled in a lot since winter and is in very good shape comparatively. Friendly staff and always have a good time here.
Course is short and good work for irons. Greens not in good condition.
I have played three times with Golf Now coupons. The staff has lacked customer service skills and dismissive with me each time. This past play they would not honor the "tax included" and charged me taxes. When I asked about it the guy just said that I was wrong and that was the way it was. I am not sure that I will continue to play at this course. I expect to be treated better than the way it has been for the past three weeks.
good experience
the staff are normally friendly. I found it to be a great value..and next time I will golf in the evening.
Good par 3 course
Excellent way to go golfing after work as the course has lighting, but with that being said its not the best lighting and finding balls can often be challenging. most of the course is in pretty good condition with a few greens needing some work.
Golf at night!
"The world's largest fully lighted golf course is like most things...better looking in semi-darkness! If you're looking for a challenging, well-manicured track, look elsewhere. But if you're just having some fun after dark, this is your place!
Clean carts and ease of registration
I have played Westend many times and almost always enjoyed it. It's a short par 60. Nice if you want to work on your short game.
Needs attention
This course is in need of Green Repairs as it looks like they have a fungus. The course has only four par 4s and no par 5s. so if you have a 160 club and a putter you can play this course.
Nice course greens need some attention
Definitely Will go again. Fairways are well maintained. Good range. Sundays are a bit slow flowing.
No water Hazards.
This course has virtually NO water hazards and that saves me golf balls.
Greens need repair, staff rude
This is not a course you play expecting great things. You go to have some fun. That said, the greens need serious repair. Lots of sandy spots. It's hard to putt when you are putting through a sand trap. Putt speeds vary. The fairways are decent and is an overall fun course to play. They also let sixsomes and higher play, even though they say they don't. The staff (or at least one gentleman) is extremely rude and dismissive. When I questioned him why I needed to pay tax when the Golfnow coupon explicitly states "Tax Included" he ignored me. When I told him they should get with Golfnow to work out that detail he said "Why should I?"
Course needs countless improvements
The course had potholes in the middle of the fairways and the greens were terrible - sandy and very poorly maintained. The gentleman running the pro shop was aloof and inattentive. It's a good thing we got one of the hot rates because I would not pay full price for this course. Most likely will not be returning.
Good value
A fast paced course in above-average condition considering the price for a round.
