Starr Pass - RoadRunner #9 Photo submitted by Mark7630854 on 10/08/2012
Great course terrible management
This is a great golf course that is in good condition. Not easy and probably not the best choice for beginners. Troon took over management recently and while course conditions have improved the overall experience has suffered. Cart staff seems uninterested in loading bags and cleaning clubs. Four people in pro shop doing nothing. Good starter but no rangers ever. Played here three times this month and pace of play was atrocious. 5 hour round every day , no ranger , it was pathetic. If you play here enjoy the scenery but don’t expect to play with any pace. For the price they should at least pretend to care.
A nice day in tucsson
Really enjoyed the Rattle and Coyote courses at Starr Pass. A beautiful sunny day with perfect temperatures. Course was in excellent condition and the greens ran true and fast.
The only downfall was one of the players in the group in front of us was very loud, dropping F Bombs after every errant shot (he had lots of them). He was so loud, I think most of the players on the course heard him! Very unpleasant. We approached the group at the clubhouse and his partners were very embarrassed. An unnecessary way to ruin an otherwise perfect day.
Must play in Tucson
Love visiting Tucson and playing Starr Pass every year from Phoenix. Disappointed this year with how dirty the course was with garbage…..ie bottles, cans etc throughout the course. Never saw this before and hope it was a momentary lapse on the part of the staff. Clearly needed attention. Tough course that eats my lunch every year but I keep coming back. Here’s hoping u clean up your act.
very good value for the season
Chilly, breezy day & cart-path only due to wet conditions. So, a little slow, but still a very good value. Very enjoyable course layout and condition. Very courteous & friendly staff.
Wet and windy
Starr Pass is a superior golf course/facility. BUT, on his day all holes were walking only.. That was a major deficiency. A requirement such as this must be prominently disclosed prior to and a refund option be available.
Beautiful course with great views
If you noticed that I would not recommend this to a friend because I don’t want this place to get too crowded. I really don’t want to give a good review to it and have so many people playing as I never will get a teatime the next time I want to But as long as you’re not gonna play when I’m playing this is the place.
Beautiful course
Enjoyed our round of golf as a 4 some, 2 couples. Only problem was score card data and golf GPS data. The modifications made to change up the holes to the present Palmer 9 hole course is inaccurate at times. All 4 Garmin personal watches did not have current data, while the cart GPS quit on hole 9.
love this course
Play here once per year on our visit to Tucson. Maybe getting a little too old for this tract. Lots of walking to and from green complexes.
Course in good shape
Tee boxes, fairways (when I found them), bunkers & greens all in great shape. Course can be very challenging, but fair, depending on the tee boxes you choose. Price is a bit steep unless you can find a deal. Would recommend highly for intermediate to advanced golfers.
Greens
Great layout. They change course layout and personal GPS doesn't know. Greens are painted and bumping as they had sand in bad spots.
Beautiful course
We were a foursome and played the Palmer course 9 holes. The course has been redone and a few holes have been switched between the 27 holes available. Our Garmin watches were not updated to this change so that was confusing. The GPS’s in the carts were accurate. A problem occurred with one of the carts as it would shutdown if taken off the cart path forcing us to drive backwards to get onto all fairways.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent experiences at our golf course.
We apologize for the lapses in service you encountered with the cart staff and pro shop. Your feedback is crucial, and we will address these issues with our team to ensure a more attentive and customer-focused experience.
