Rod cooper
Course in far better shape than the previous 2 years, greens are getting better but still not good.. fairways have much improved and playing decent. The 40.00 price for 18 makes it not worth the money. Thanks golf now for hot deals 25.00 to 30.00.or would not play. To many better courses in the area for 40.00. But keep up the good work it’s definitely getting better..
Save your $$ until it's rebuilt
This course used to be one of the best courses around; however, we did not realize it and the community/condos have gone into such disrepair. Apparently, it was recently sold and the new owner has done a little bit to improve the conditions, however, $55 was a rip-off.
It's a shame. The entire property is almost a ghost town. The buildings are vacant, the pro-shop isn't bad.
Overall, stay away until the new owner has brought it back to life. Wish I had played when the property was in its hay day!
Horrible experience
The location of the pro shop is like a navigating a maze.
The condition of the course is a tragedy. The fairways are mostly weeds. The greens are brown with many bare spots. All the greens had holes from animals digging or poking for food.
We played the first 9 on the south course, then asked to play the back 9 on the east course. The east course appeared to be in marginally better shape.
I am surprised this course is still open. Certainly the conditions do not justify the cost.
Most of greens are partially dead and rough. Tees are bad and rough is weeds.
The worst course conditions and greens were awful even though we only paid 27 dollars you can’t putt on these greens at all. The traps are in horrendous condition. It appears to get plenty of play which I couldn’t understand why they don’t tend to the course with as much play as it gets. It could be a beautiful course if someone took care of it.
Good for value
You get what you pay for. We got out first and played a 3 hour round which was nice. The course was in average condition but I would definitely play again. Not a top tier course but not a dump either. Greens definitely need some work though, had to putt over a bunch of bald spots and marks.
Stay Away
I played the course with a group of 12 guys, and each of us was extremely disappointed with the course. The fairways were very thin on the front 9, better on the back. Greens were in terrible shape throughout the course, but minimally better on the back 9. Overall, I would stay away from the course. We played the South course.
The best part of the round was the 18th hole. We caught happy hour, and was worth visiting.
Very Happy
I was a little concerned based on the reviews I read, but presently surprised. Yes, there are some blemishes on the greens and some tee boxes are rough, but I found the fairways just fine with minimal bad spots. The roughs are a little rough, but that is why they are called roughs. It is not pristine, but it not $200 either. For the average golfer like myself I think this is a great buy and a great course. I'll be back and you should give it a try.
Terrible conditions, Nice layout, too bad
The course has a great layout. Unfortunately the entire course and clubhouse has been let go. On one tee off the actual tee box marker was buried under the sand of an ant hill. The greens were very patching, bouncy and inconsistent. The tee boxes were in very poor shape, weeds around them were over grown. The clubhouse felt very dirty and was very outdated. The pro shop was respectable. Very unfortunate that this course has been let go to these conditions. I would play there again, but not for $40.00 with a noon hour tee time.
Had a great day
The course was quiet. The weather was perfect. I've always like the layout of this course, the South course. The first green was in rough shape but they improved in the holes that followed. They still haven't returned the rakes to the bunkers but they were still decently groomed for the most part. The carts worked well and no one bothered us throughout the whole round. I will play again with a hot deal.
It's Golf
I HAVE PLAYED GRENELEFE NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST COUPLE YRS..I PLAYED THE SOUTH COURSE FOR THIS LATEST ROUND..I FOUND THE GREENS TO BE IN NEED OF MUCH TLC..THERE WERE BARE SPOTS, SANDED SPOTS, WEEDY SPOTS ON MOST OF THE GREENS..IMPOSSIBLE TO PUTT WITHOUT THE BALL BOUNCING LIKE A RUBBER BALL.I USUALLY DON'T FUSS TOO MUCH OVER COURSE CONDITIONS,BUT SOME GOLFERS WOULD NOT TOLERATE GREENS AS BAD AS THESE WERE.THAT BEING SAID, I WILL GOLF THERE AGAIN, BECAUSE I LIKE THE LAYOUT AND THE COST..I WILL PUT UP WITH SUB PARR GREENS FOR THE PLEASURE OF GOLFING...
