Disappointed
I had played this course many times, several years ago. It was a "go to" course for my wife and me when vacationing in Tucson. I played it today and was very disappointed in it's condition. The greens were OK, but the fairways were horrible.
Not Worth It
I have had played this course many times over the years and was always one of my favorite in the Tucson area the scenery is phenomenal unfortunately the course conditions were atrocious the worst course we have played in Tucson in the last 2 weeks the fairways were not overseeded with Rye but we're simply dyed green no grass whatsoever on the fairways the Rough was Bermuda 4 in Long and they charge $85 per round to play this goat Ranch
Beautiful scenery at the foothills of the mountains
Played the Preserve Golf Club at SaddleBrooke today. Was a little apprehensive because of the terrible reviews regarding the course conditions. We were pleasantly surprised. The tee boxes , greens and sand traps are in good shape. The fairways are thin and have been painted, but we have played on worse courses in the Tucson . The layout is a lot of fun and the views throughout the course are really nice. Pace of play was great (under 4 hours) considering that it was very crowded and bunched up because of a frost delay. The weather was cold but the golf was good. Unless you are a golf snob, this is a very enjoyable course. We plan to play it again next year when we return to Tucson.
Terrible Fairways - Decent Greens
I have enjoyed The Preserve in the past. Too bad the fairways are in terrible shape; I sure hope they come back. The Greens were in decent shape, the ball rolled well. The Staff was friendly & the pace of play was good. They simply are charging too much. All things considered the price should be $35 - $40. ($40 for a morning round).
worth the drive from old town scottsdale
challenging but great views and elevation changes on holes, will play again
Used to like the course, but not in the current condition.
The course needs water badly.
You know things are bad when you can’t push in your tee on the tee box!
Not much real grass on the fairways, just green spray on dead grass, if that.
So different than past years.
This used to be a really nice, course, and we loved to play here. Now.. not so much.
If you are charging a premium price, you better have a nicer course.
Painted fairways
Layout of the course was nice with beautiful Mountain View’s. Unfortunately, some of the fairways were painted green. Several holes including two par 5 holes were cart path only for no apparent reason. I would not recommend this course in these conditions at this price.
Some rough spots
Understand there was some work done to the course. Some holes you could see areas of sod but it was playable. Overall it’s in good condition
Slow Play on Thin Grass
The round took nearly 5 hours because of slow Men’s Club play. The fairway grass was very thin and sparse in many areas. The greens were smooth and fast due to thin grass. The staff were friendly but not able to do anything about the slow play
NEEDS WORK
This course is not in the best shape I’ve seen in the past. Need work! Pay attention to detain.
Disappointed
I have played the Preserve many times. Enjoy the layout and setting. Many interesting holes. However, when we played on November 15, 2020, the fairways were in poor condition and several greens had diseased areas. Disappointed to say the least.
Resort course within private community
Had a great time playing here. #10 needs some rethinking but all other holes a pleasure to play
Bad greens and fairways
Played The Preserve at saddlebrooke on Sunday 6/30/19. I have to say the conditions were the worst I have ever played in the southern arizona area. half the greens were 20% grass and 80% dead grass/dirt. the ones with grass were slow and bumpy. I called prior to going and they NEVER said anything about the greens.
This course has beautiful views... and variety
Loved this course. For Tucson area it was a surprise. Did not know much about it before this year. Saw it on teeoff.com booking site so decided to give it a try.
Wow. Saw bobcat and deer. Course sits on benchs in foothills of northern end of catalina mountains.
The views of the surrounding mountains and some of the holes was great. Looks like a fun place to live. The clubhouses are very nice. Saw they had some pools, courts and looks like other fun activities.
Good value.
Will return.
Paid $67, it is in the range that most courses are this time of year. Not a great price, but reasonable.
Curious to know what you paid and if you thought it was high/low or properly priced?
