Beautiful course affects game

Not being very good golfers had no effect on us enjoying our round of golf. The beauty of the course and the good fortune of pairing up with a friendly couple from Ft Collins CO. made for a fantastic experience. The staff could not have been any better.

Exceeded Expectations!!

My son in law and I played with a great golf now rate of $58. The course was in nice shape and really couldn't ask for more. The views are spectacular and the various holes use the natural terrain to increase the challenge and enjoyment. The greens are VERY hard and fast. Bouncing onto the green is about your only hope if you don't have back spin in your bag of tricks! So much fun we played another 16 rounds prior to dark, for $30 replay fee.
Mitch, Tom and all the staff were nice and helpful. First time players can get a very helpful color flip book describing each hole in detail with distances. A life saver for blind shots. Some generous par fives and hard par fours. All in all, a fair and challenging course. Good luck on 6. It's a doozy!

Always beautiful and exciting

If you like elevation changes and beautiful scenery you can't beat The River Course at Keystone Resort.
The folks here are friendly and helpful. I've played the course several times. Often with visitors that are wow-ed by the experience.
The front nine has some tough holes especially the three par 3s. The back nine has several exciting elevated tee shots. My favorite is the 496 yd (blue tee) par 4 16th hole. A long drive with a draw will carry through the fairway and leave you with a steep downhill lie. A smarter but less exciting play is to lay up on the final plateau for a long drop shot to the green.
Bring your camera. This course is a beauty.

Exciting and beautiful course

Our annual Colorado Golf Binge group of 2 foursomes just played The River Course at Keystone Resort for the 5th consecutive year. Our group is composed of guys from TX, IL, MN and CO and they always love the thrill of hitting from highly elevated tees while enjoying great scenery and cool, dry air. I'm sure the group's vote will be to return in 2015.
One tip...On the par 5 fifth and par 4 17th holes be sure you don't overshoot those greens. The comeback shots are too tough.

Down Hill from There

Course was in good shape after a cold winter. The course offers some dramatic views. The first hole has an alevation drop of 150'. It is downhill from there. Very up and down and lots of photo ops.The greens were firm and putted really well. The practice putting green is a little severe. If you can get comfortable on it the rest are a breeze.

Beautiful Golf Course in a Beautiful Place

Beautiful mountain golf course with spectacular views and truly dramatic elevation changes on a number of holes. From tips, yardage is almost 6,900 with a par of 71, so not daunting length for a course at this altitude, but a good mix of holes, very well-designed and well-maintained. While i rated staff friendliness as "dismissive," a more descriptive word would be "indifferent," at least in my experience. However, i tend not to let that detract from a course's rating. In this case, my overall course rating would be about 4.5 or so; i scored it a "4" really only because right now the fairways are less than "5" (but certainly not bad) due to apparently fairly recent aeration, and the greens, while they putted very well, were too firm & sandy (also from apparent aeration, though seemingly longer ago than the fairways) to be receptive enough to score "5." But without hesitation, i would recommend / return, and could support an overall "5" rating if/when the course is in what i imagine to be its normal condition.

All I can say, with the beauty of CO and it's landscape, it was awesome.

Built into a mountain with the Snake River running thru and Lake Dillon in view it was kind of hard to concentrate on the golf. Camreas required......
The elevation changes on the course and it's scenery are very picturesque. From the view off the first tee to a roller coaster finish (16-18) you will enjoy!!
It is a fun golf course, very fair and also challenging.
The property's staff are very friendly, informative and accommodating
Slow play may occur due to all the vista's one encounters.

What a fun course with beautiful views!

The fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The views were breathtaking even with the occasional rain conditions. It was our most favorite course of the three we played on our vacation in Summit County.

Most spectular views I have ever seen!

My husband and I were on vacation in Breckenridge and The River Course at Keystone was recommended to us numerous times. We were able to get a good rate by booking through Golf Now. Interesting thing is that the weather was horrible, cold and rainy, and we still had a great experience. The staff including the desk staff, starter, bag help, waitress in bar, and the "players' assistant" were cheerful and went out of their way to provide us with towels and a dry cart! Even with the ugly skies, the views form each tee box and green were breathtaking. The sun broke out on hole 17 and 18 to give a taste of what it could look like. Also, even with the rain, the course was in incredible shape. We will absolutely return someday, and I would tell anyone who asked, "Do not miss this experience if you have the opportunity to golf it." Side note: bring a few extra balls! However, it is so gorgeous you won't mind losing a few!

The course has great scenery, and in great condition

The course is in great condition. I have a 13.4 index and played the Blue tees which was to long for me. The next time I will play the White tees which would play into my length better, and be more fun.

Beautiful course with great challenges.

Keystone River is full of beautiful vistas, elevation changes, and challenging greens that will keep your attention all round. Fairways are wide, but keep the ball out of the bunkers if you can. A very fun afternoon.

Amazing view, but course in bad shape

This course is very beautiful and has lots of changes in elevation. The condition of the course (June 2013) was pretty bad. The fairways had many dry spots and the greens were very bumpy and chewed up in some places.

Greens "did not come back yet", consider that last snow storm was about a month ago.Greens were tough to read and somewhat bumpy. We had a great time!(my son and I)

beautiful views on every hole

This is one of the most beautiful courses ive ever played. Course was in great shape but is very challenging...almost to the point of being unplayable. The greens were impossible to hold and ran over a 12 ... Im a 10 handicap and this course beat me up bad! The staff was ok and the range was great... That being said I would play it again in a heartbeat!
