Poor drainage, otherwise nice, good senior rates
Hadn’t played here in like 15 years and now twice this year 2023. In April and October both times very wet. At least it was 90 degrees rule 10/20/23. Spring was cart paths only which is a lot of walking. They used to have the senior tour Egypt valley qualifier here. Ray Hearn designed nice courses and a local I believe Holland residence. Large greens, wide fairways but a poor drainage system much like the Meadows GVSU was yesterday. Neat layout around ponds, swamps and some woods.
Great discount for seniors at $30 from $50 regular fall rates which was our draw. Not anywhere near as noisy as Thornapple(aka planes, trains, automobiles)
Will be back, gps e carts.
Summer golf
Great sunny day at Quail Ridge. Pars were possible and even 2 birdies
Quail Ridge: Nice, but Slow
First time we golfed here. Beautiful weather. Great course layout and shape. Beverage cart found us three times.
Opportunities:
Pace of Play. 5 1/2 hours, stuck behind two foursomes each playing 2 man scrambles. However, each par 3 became an 8 some. Groups posing for selfies together! No groups in front of them. NO RANGER SEEN ALL DAY.
Expect more for $69.
The 2 hour 45 minute front 9 left us longing for food at the turn. A morning outing and meal was wrapping up. Went in at 215p to grab a sandwich. Six (6) girls behind the bar, (3) of them closing out individual bar bills from the outing, (3) of them talking to each other, ignoring us in line. Waited 15 minutes, no service. Left without food to secure our place in line, only to be third group on the 10th tee, behind the slow pokes.
Bottom line: GREAT COURSE. GREENSKEEPERS ON TOP OF THEIR GAME. FOOD SERVICE AND RANGERS, SEVERELY LACKING. Pace of play scares us off for this price.
Great service
Staff was excellent. It was power outage because of the storm but they accommodate us with golf cart.
Decent track
Course is in good shape. Greens were quite quick - hard to hold. Pace of play is consistently an issue for me there. 5 hours is the norm and today was no different.
