Doesn't get much better!
My cousin and I usually try to play somewhere once a weekend or at least every other weekend and we have wanted to play this course for a while now. Usually difficult to find tee-times the day of for this really nice course. This past weekend we had the opportunity to play Macatawa. What a fun course. Great shape and challenging greens. The first time with some of the blind shots was a little more challenging then I think it will be playing it again now see the cut-outs and things in the course. However, tee to green is not the difficulty. The difficulty here is once you get to the green. Slight, hidden and tricky/slippery breaks on some with massive sweeping drops and elevations on other greens. Whoever said, why have the greens that fast I don't think too into account the amount of elevation changes on the greens. We both thought they rolled well and true to how firm, but receptive they were. We will DEFINITELY be back and hopefully more than a couple times a year!
Can't say enough nice things about this course
Beautiful course with some pretty challenging holes. Greens were suuuuper fast but immaculate. Staff in the Pro Shop were very friendly. No cart girl that day but they had a pretty big event going around the twilight tee time we had.
Fast greens and lots of ball marks
I really don’t think you need to have your greens as fast as they played. That being said, people please fix your ball marks. There were dozens of old marks that would take a long rime to heal if I wasn’t there fixing them.
Impressive to even the longtime golfers
Can’t say enough about the course- clean, well taken care of, challenging holes, easy to navigate. Some water, some sand traps, moderately challenging as well. Wonderful modern carts and even the Red Rock Grille had great food options at fair price. Will definitely go again!
Oh my goodness it rained
Wife and I snuck in an afternoon 9 holes before Saturday night festivities and add this course to your list if it rains in the spring. The tall heather grass isn't grown up yet so you can spray the ball all over the place and still find and play it out which was awesome for the 1st round of the year. Most of the couples out on the course came driving in once the rain started which greatly improved the pace of play. It never rained hard enough to even feel wet but wife had the rain coat and a weatherproof blanket on in the cart and I kept feeding her High Noon Peach and she was happy to keep on, keeping on.
Course was in good shape for spring but very hard, this was first rain in awhile and they vericut the fairways recently so it was hard and rolling. I get lost in holes 4 thru 6 - very similar and the blind tee shots aren't the best. Love that par 3 3rd w/ all the sand around it. Good hole. It's a nice place, clubhouse is obnoxiously big, like in your face big but go play here, good test.
Gorgeous course
First time ever playing this course. The carts were very nice with comfy seats and GPS. The course layout was easy to figure out. Would definitely play again when I come back into town.
Good
Still early in the year so hasn’t fully taken shape yet. Great layout and great clubhouse with amenities, normally close to a 5 star but maybe in about another month or so
Pro shop guys were very nice though, so not poor customer service all around.
