Nice course
My wife and I played this on a Saturday, we were never pushed and. we only bad two holes that we had to wait on, some of the greens were hard to read from the fairway but they seemed to fair and smooth. The fairways are tree lined and the bunkers were well maintained, there a beverage girl that we saw at least every fourth hole, overall a very nice day.
what a treat
got together with some friends for a golf weekend and started with this course. great place to start an awesome weekend of golf with old friends. beautiful fairways, nice greens, and the 2 finishing holes are a sight to behold. the 2 swans at the 18 green really topped off the day. thank you.
Go play course.
From tee box to green course in great shape
Greens were average speed with good roll. Absolutely no reason not to play course. Deceptively long from whatever tee box you choose.
Very nice course
Great challenge with great views. I only recommend the course adjust the re-play rates. My quote for replay was higher then the 1st round. Not cool.
Memorial day weekend round
Played 18 with my brother. The course was in great shape. Abd for as busy as it was, the pace of play was perfect. It is a challenging course, but forgiving to average players. And, the weather was perfect.
Good times!
Great course! a must visit for anyone who goes to the northwest Lower penisula in the mitten
Excellent
Golfed the whole 18 without waiting or holding anyone up.
Great layout and course conditions.
Will play it again.
Treated like second class customers
My buddy and I played this course today behind 44 women who were playing scramble. Before our tee off time we were putting on the putting green just before the first hole and noticed about 16 women at the 1st tee. Some of them were using hockey sticks to tee off. Yes hockey sticks! Could not believe it and a ranger was there watching them. I went to the Pro Shop to see if we could start on the back 9 to avoid the slow play that we expected. They would not do anything for us. We caught up with the last group of women after just 2 holes and waited on each hole a long time to play. The women in the group before us seem more interested in talking and looking for balls than golfing. There was a couple behind us that were actually going back and playing the hole behind us twice. Saw them do that at least 3 times, that is how slow the play was. After 9 holes a bunch of the women from the groups before us stopped at the club house and we assumed they were only playing 9 holes. It took us 3 hours to play the front 9. So we teed off on 10 happy that they were done. Before we could tee off on 11 a guy from the club house came up and told us we had to wait for these women to get ahead of us. He basically told us that the course was making a lot of money off them because they also were staying at the hotel. So I said "the rest of us out here are just second class customers". And he said yes I am afraid that is just the way it is. He also said you guys booked on Golf Now, why didn't you just call the club house and they would of suggested a different tee time. I told him we didn't book with Golf Now, but used the courses online booking system. Then he said you guys really don't want to be playing this slow behind all these women do you, and suggested I go over to the club house to see if they could put us on the other course they have on the property. My buddy and I both had pretty good rounds going score wise, however when we played the front 9 of the other course it was really wet and soggy and the greens were really slow as compared to what we had played so far and so we both ended blowing a good round. This whole situation left a really bad taste in our mouths so to speak. If the course was really interested in providing ALL their customers with a great golfing experience they should of blocked off 45 minutes to an hour of tee times after this group teed off, not letting anyone start right behind them. Then every one could of had a great time, including the 2nd class customers that did not stay at the hotel.
Boys Getaway @017
We have been going to Manistee for the las 6 years or so for our Golf Getaway. Our numbers have gone from 12 players up to 24 golfers last year. Doug Bell is awesome - he caters and organizes our whole trip and is very flexible with making modifications. Each year he adds something more to our trip. Both Courses at Manistee are awesome. The staff are very accomodating and pleasant with our group. The food at the club house is outstanding. Having the pool and hot tub (inside and outside) are major bonuses. Fire pit, horse shoe, pit, bball net, lots of social areas to play cards/poker, etc. makes Manistee a very comfy spot to get away to.
Manistee fun
This course has a great layout, lots of tee options for any player. Staff takes great care of the greens, fairways & bunkers. We will play here again, whenever we're in town.
good course
good layout must keep ball in play, greens fun to putt on
Tough Track
Very beautiful and difficult course. Take extra golf balls, you'll need them.
This course is very playable with great scenery. Cut out of the Michigan north woods.
We plan on playing this course for years to come. Staff was super friendly. Pace of play was smoking fast and extremely
well maintained. Great value for the money.
Always smooth play
Course is always well maintained, but never seems to be very busy. Play is always smooth and never "overbooked".
