Slllooowww!
I was really looking forward to playing this course. It took almost 3 hours to play 9 holes and the greens were topdressed. I hope they will do better next time.
slow pace of play
Great golf course just took us a little over 6 hours to finish and waited on every tee shot and every green shot. No ranger to keep things moving out on the course. have never played that long of a round out side an outing. Other than pace of play it was a great course.
Couse layout was challenging
There were multiple 5-somes that were playing in front of us. 5.5hrs to play 18 was way too long for that course. No rangers were seen through out the course of play. Beware of the rough. Really deep and thick, really hard to make good contact. They do not have an intermediate cut of rough between the fairway and the deep stuff.
Great golf at Yarrow
The course is challenging and provides some opportunities to score well. The course was in great shape and is visually appealing.
Great course
I have played many courses and this one is in the to ten. Lots ping fun, challenging greens, friendly staff.
Solid Course, but lacking something
Pretty course, and a great location between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo. We played the second longest set of tees and found it plenty challenging, but it just feels like the course could be something more than it is... The $60 weekend price point puts this among the more expensive options in the immediate area (though we admittedly got a great deal through GolfNow). The course was in excellent condition, but only has 2-3 memorable holes which is a shame for a course placed on that plot of land. The course's water is seldom really in play, and the holes that could have a great links feel instead somehow feel like treeless municipal holes in better condition. Like many courses that include elevation changes and visual deception, it would be beneficial to have GPS in the carts or sprinkler head yardages... My partner and I spent a lot of time driving/walking around our balls trying to locate 100/150/200 markers.
scenic, yet close
secluded, scenic, yet close . Like being up north with out the drive. , with 5 sets of T's can be as challenging as you desire. Thought the rough was a bit long . food was excellent in the pub.
Beautiful well groomed course in natural setting.
Wew love this course & hope more glofers sign up to play or stay at this resort.
Worth the drive
Played the course for the first time on a Sunday in June while traveling in the Augusta area. It is a bit off the beaten path but once you get there it is well maintained and worth the drive. Elevation changes in a secluded setting add to the visual appeal of the round. The greens were in good shape although not especially fast. Once you adjusted to the speed, scoring well was possible.
Yarrow
One of the best and Very Challenging course near Kalamazoo. Friendly staff. Good food.
Play Yarrow TOMORROW!
Great course. LIterally in the middle of nowhere, though. We had to use GPS to find our way there AND back! Not kidding. But worth the odyssey - what a cool track. Very much like "up north" courses. Lots of elevation change, rolling fairways, big, undulating greens, interesting water hazards, and very very fair. Only one lame hole - #15. Par 3. Blah. The other par 3's are spectacular, though, and the par 5's are all a blast. Can't wait to play it again.
was surprised
Played this course plenty of times and was surprised when i played there on Saturday 6/14/2014, what surprised me was when i hit my ball in two of the sand traps there was no sand it was all dirt and rocks, a course this nice and the amount of money it cost to golf there they should at least have sand in there traps. Also the other thing that bothered our group was through six holes there was no one up on us and the starter felt the need to come up to us to tell us we are ten minutes behind schedule, like i said no one behind us we can see and he felt the need to say this i felt like it was very rude, and playing golf most of my life i was taught that golf is a patient game where u take your time to make the best shot u can. But as i said no one behind us as we could see and this guy was very rude about it.
This course reminded me of courses around Gaylord Michigan
I will be back to play this course very well maintained large greens and placement is sometimes crucial to make par.
Great course, better value
This is a hidden gem that must be played. Each hole is set away from the rest and offers you a northern Michigan experience. The course was in great condition. I highly recommend making the trip.
Longest round ever
Love the course but the pace of play was miserably slow. Took our twosome over 5.5 hours to play. It was ridiculous. There was no ranger in sight except for hole #1 who said gonna be slow. I've never been more miserable in my life with the pace of play
Yarrow
Beautiful course. Not well labeled, hard to find first tee. Fairways and greens nice cut. Greens fast. Course would be more enjoyable without the championship rough. Off the fairway and it is easy to lose a ball that was not that poorly struck. Then it is almost impossible to hit a long iron, hybrid or fairway wood out of that grass.
Good condition - Nice course
Staff was terrific - course was in good shape - greens a bit slower than I expected - rough can be a challenge - can be really tough to find ball even if just off fairway
Solid course
My buddy and I love this course. I've played it three times and it is in remarkable condition each time. They usually have a good rate on golfnow.com also. They have a little snack shop/bathroom at the turn outfitted with all the amenities you need including a very nice employee.
One of the best hidden gems in West Michigan
Friendly staff greeted me with kindness and noted where pin locations were according to their unique pin placement system. Small practice putting green but it worked. A nice half mile drive to the first hole. This course is sprawled out over pure michigan woods and waters and is tremendously manicured. Fairways were immaculate. Awesome, deep, european-like bunkers filled with soft sand seem to haunt every fairway like a bad dream. Greens were very large , well paced and flawless. This is a course where course management plays a huge role. Favorite hole was , I believe it was #14 , but easily recognizable. Hard dog-leg left over a beautiful pond/lake. Hardest hole on the course. With the par 3 17th close behind, traveling over a qtr mile long wooden bridge to get there. 1st time playing here and it was well worth the hour drive from GR. Defenitely will be back.
Great course could be good destination
Yarrow is in the boonies but was really worth the drive. It is a fantastic course in great condition with in a setting more resembling Petoskey than Kalamazoo. There is a massive deck overlooking the 18th green, with lodging that has the feeling of cabins. Could be a great buddy trip. I have played many top courses and this is worth $80 in the high season. On golf Now I paid a pittance.
