There are two 18-hole golf courses available at Orangebrook Country Club in Hollywood, the East and the West. Built in the 1930s, the East Course is the club's original layout. While its design may be more traditional, it is just as much of a challenge as the newer West Course. The East has fewer water hazards but there are large bunkers strategically placed throughout. There are some tricky holes included in the design but there are also many player-friendly features as well including wide-open fairways and generous landing areas. Players can get their practice in on the large, lighted driving range that has both distance markers and a practice bunker. Orangebrook C.C. offers not one but two player-friendly but challenging rounds, making it popular amongst locals for being one of the area's best values.

Built 85 years ago in what was the hinterland of Hollywood, Fl., Orangebrook's pair of very tired, 18-hole East and West courses somehow survive political pressure to be converted into yet another batch of nondescript high-rise condos and traffic-clogged shopping plazas. As a golf course, Orangebrook hangs on because there is a casual, friendly vibe and the price is usually reasonable (especially with an online, winter hot deal) which attracts tons of (mostly) French Canadian golfers in the winter and locals in the summer. Unhappily, the East Course I played was plagued with splotchy fairways, weathered greens, and tee boxes pocked with sand-packed divots. Many of the tee boxes were moved up, which shortened the track considerably and made it much easier to score on holes where water came into play. The East Course layout was largely wide and uninspiring, save for a half dozen holes where water and trees posed an aesthetically interesting challenge. The staff was courteous, but unbelievably, on a very busy Monday afternoon, there was no cart service, an egregious oversight since the clubhouse was not conveniently located near the course and there was no on-course snack bar. On the plus side, our foursome cruised through a packed course in a shade over four hours. Nonetheless....In spite of the predictably, mediocre course conditions and no cart service, I still was able to work on my French and on my game in a je ne sais quoi, enjoyable fashion. That combo was worth the price of admission.

Busy course but when split in two not do bad

Interesting that eagle lakes in Naples charged me a lot more to play and that course is almost in the same condition

No rakes in bunkers

No water in ball cleaners at each hole

But value for amount paid

Hope that weather and time allow for green grass as time moves on

We played the West course several years ago and we're less than impressed by the layout. The East course is more wide open but don't let that fool you. It has tricky greens most of which are tightly guarded by bunkers. The staff was very friendly. We only got through 16 holes, didn't tee off till 330 and it gets dark at 6 so even though it was crowded pace of play was excellent. The course was a little damp and there were quite a few bare spots on fairways and tee boxes, somehow I avoided the bunkers so I can't comment on them. The disappointing thing is that the driving range was closed, apparently as a result of the hurricane but there is no mention of this on the website. I was told they are hoping to have it open again by the end of the month.

East Course conditions were barely average. The fairways are ‘beat up’, with big bare spots just before the greens. Hurricane Irma cleanup must still be continuing, but the loss of trees has really changed the look of the course. Surprisingly, the greens on the East Course were decent. Historically, not a good course to play when wet, and unfortunately it was wet. Whew! Can’t expect much playing this course.

Cold, windy, wet, I played alone... and I was almost alone on the course. I saw only 3 other golfers. It took 1h30 to complete the round.

Not particularly difficult, small greens, could be better maintained but good value for the price.

I will replay.

Of the 18 holes approx. 50-60 percent of the greens were in good shape. Tee boxes need re-sodding due to major wear and tear down to the sand. Overall the course is fun to play if you can hit the fairways not the rough due to off-fairway shots will lie in not so friendly weeds.
