Needs some TLC
I played here on Father's Day with my son. This course could be a very good place to play with a little tender loving care. Start with the tee boxes. Too many of the teeing grounds were placed on mounds which prevented a flat stance. In addition, the tees were further restricted by the growth of bushes on each side of the tee markers. Some allowed little more than three or four feet of true teeing area. The course owners should have spent far less on the hole markers and more on the tee boxes. Next, the fairways had no yardage markers, making it difficult to choose the proper club for approach shots. Sure, there were some feeble attempts at red, blue and white stripes spray painted on the cart paths but they were very hard to spot, especially when on the far side of the fairways. Thirdly, the greens were infested with ant hills everywhere and the greenside bunkers were, at best, atrocious. There was virtually no sand in the bunkers and most featured some sort of trimmed down grass plants growing in a corner. If you can't take care of the traps properly, don't have them.
If it wasn't for the fact that we played here at a discount, I would be hesitant to rate this course even one star. As it is, unless these issues are addressed, I will not return, nor will I recommend it to any of my friends.
Hidden gem
This course has been a pleasant surprise in the two years of new ownership. Greens are large and in good shape. Fairways and tee boxes are better than average. The course is a little short, but has its set of challenges. Request for improvement would be in two areas: The sand traps desperately need work (recut, fresh sand, and raked each day). Also, there are places where drainage is an issue as well. I’m sure these are issues ownership knows about, but they won’t keep me from coming back!
Beginner course, not maintained well.., Fair price with great deal
The course is now called Crooked Creek. My first impression of the course is it is very confusing. Trying to find the tee boxes from hole-to-hole is very challenging for first time golfers. The practice putting green is atrocious. The tee boxes are in very poor condition. It’s like you’re teeing off from your backyard. The fairways are no different than your front yard at your home. It is a very short course as well.
Enough with the negatives... there are some positives. The greens are gigantic which allows for great target approaches, Also, when you play 18 you get a free hit dog a drink. A heck of a deal!
.
They're working on it.
Short course. New owners are trying to get it back in condition after some time of neglect. Concrete paths, nice greens … the foundation is there. There were plenty of workers on the course. I will go back.
Decent course but you can tell they are trying to improve
This course was in average conditioning but greens were in very good shape. You could tell that the new owners are trying to make the greens pristine and then work their way back to the fairways and tees. For $13 for 18 and a cart it is a great course! Short but creates challenges with penalty areas, trees, and tough pin placements. The only negative was there were some people that you could tell do not play golf much and they also had people joining up to create 5 and 6somes on the course but we still finished in under 4 hours for 18. I would definitely recommend playing here and seeing the hard work they are putting in. As someone who used to work on a grounds crew at a golf course, you could definitely see how hard they are working to turn this course around.
New owners and looking great
There are new owners this year and they are making great improvements and it’s looking good. Crooked Creek is the name now.
Fantastic Course
First time playing this course, was a great time. Staff was very friendly, course was surprisingly challenging, with new owner I see great things happening for this place. Great choice for even low handicaps, greens are in great shape.
New Management
I can’t review this course as I normally would since the course recently reopened after being closed for so long. Once they are able to put some more money into it and get the tee boxes and greens where they want I’m sure that the course will be great. Short course but that’s okay if you’re looking for a quicker round.
New ownership! New start!
I had not been to this course but had been hearing on the radio that there was new ownership. I decided to schedule a round today and was pleasantly surprised at the course and its condition. The course is a little shorter than the standard from the “white tees”. Excellent large greens, nice fairways, and a paved cart path throughout the entire course! There are various water obstacles, varying tree lines on the fairways, and a variety of basic challenges on the course. I will be back!!
They have really cleaned this place up!
Me and my son was able to play 18/cart for under $30 with the "GolfNow" app.
Great value, white 5222yds 70
Friendly staff, course in resonance shape, except for what appear to be sand traps. Scored my best round in years, by leaving woods in bag. They have 5 par 3, and 6 par 4 holes <281 yds.
New Owners Decent Course
Decent course under new ownership and it’s in good condition and will continue to get better. Very reasonable prices and great staff.
