Very disappointed
This has been my "home" course for several years due to it's convenient location near my house. This was my first time playing it this year, and needless to say I won't be back anytime soon. My recommendation is to close the course for a couple days and repair the fairways and greens. It does not look like any repairation has been done to the course since it closed last year. I've put up with slow and crowded play here, but I'm not going to chip and put on what looks like an Elementary Playground.
Good condition for February
The course was in good shape for February. The fairways have dried up a lot. Greens were not bad had a good speed to them.
Decent track, needs to have an on course ranger
The course is not bad. It's definitely overpriced for what it is though. Its ususally overbooked and pace is usually pretty slow. I've played there for 3 years now and I've never seen a ranger on the course and/or manage the pace of play. Costs should be cheaper for a city course, tee times need to spaced out appropriately and a ranger needs to manage pace of play. If they made those changes it would really improve things.
Golfing in February awesome
For being February the course was not in bad shape. Little wet in a few places. The greens were nice
Great place
This is a great course. Everything u need and a very challenging layout.
The worst pace of play in SE Michigan
Such a nice course and so unenjoyable. Wait at ever hole, every time out.
It's not a little slow, it's dreadfully backed up all the time. If you get your round in in 5 hours it's a success
Great condition, challenging but in a good way, priced perfectly.
This is exactly what I hope for a 60$ 18 hole course. Beautiful views on a few holes, two stunning par 3s where you’re hitting from above downhill, and it’s in great shape. Staff is good and it has a golf range where you can hit off felt or grass up to you, nice for warming up. If I had to find a complaint I would say the pace on the front 9 is great bc the starters are actually doing their job but pace slows down tremendously on the back 9 which tends to happen everywhere bc ppl stop to get drinks and food at the bend but be warned the back 9 will take much longer than the front 9. All in all completely worth the money and would fully recommend for the above average golfer whose looking to test his skills a little bit.
Solid golf, Slow Play
Had a 4:30 t time on a friday afternoon and sunset was 8:45 so figured we would get it in pretty easy. On the first t, a group cut us after the starter told us we were next to go(already 10 mins behind) and the starter came up and I told him and he talked to the group in front of us and pretty much just said I’m sorry, you’re just screwed. Don’t know why he didn’t put us back in front of them and he knew their t time was after ours. This group ended up being extremely slow and never let us pass. Couldn’t finish our last 2 holes. Would of never happened if starter enforced t times.
Great course, with a grain of salt
The course itself is beautiful. Great views and scenery are on every hole. The real downsides are the pace of play and some of the tee boxes. The rangers tried to keep the pace of play up, but after the 3rd hole they were gone. It should never take 3 hours to play the front 9. Then there’s multiple narrow and blind tee boxes where you cannot see the flag and are swinging up hill.
Overpriced for average course. No beverage cart or ranger.
I've played here more than a half dozen times in the last few years. This was my first time since the spring. Full disclosure, I had a GN discount code, but I would not pay the full asking price to play here. No beverage cart girl on any of the days (one weekday, multiple going back to last fall) and 90% weekends we played- none. No ranger too to help enforce when its slow play. Hardly anyone repaired their green side ball marks to make putting more like a putt-putt course as almost every green was promised one or more big bounces. Must be short on staff too because the club house lady (she was very polite and professional) was overwhelmed with what looked like an earlier outing and didn't have time to put on any more hot dogs etc. (anything on the grill). Additionally, we saw a sign that said the range was closing early on Sunday's (4pm). As they are one of the few, if only, grass practice ranges in the area, it only creates more a bottle neck when trying even just get in some range practice. Tee boxes, fairways are nice when it's rained but the rest of the course is usually battling standing water every time it rains in multiple areas and most bunkers were unplayable with standing water and nowhere close to ideal to hit out of. It is what it is as it used to be a garbage dump site decades ago.
Rando - We are sorry your experience did not live up to your expectations. We are confident our product is on par if not better than previous years. Lower temperatures through April and May have not been conducive for growing grass and therefore course repairs have taken longer to complete, but we are confident in our course and hope you give us another shot.
