Greens Punched
They must be going through winter maintenance/prepping for the city championships cause all the greens were punched, greens 1-6 were also Sanded that day on Koiner.
Punched Greens
The greens were punched when got there, and there was no disclosure that that was the condition. Other than that it was a great round.
Brookside Great Course
I had a great time on the course it was a great day the Pace of play was real good the staff were extremely friendly and had no issues at all love the layout had a blast
challenging as this is their big boy coarse.
Rose Bowl parking on fairways, time of year, and cool temperatures made for tight lies. A little muddy in places. Greens were quick and in good condition. Tee off was at 1pm so only got 15 in. Overall a great time.
Lots of dirt, tire marks, muddy swamps.
I get they need to make accommodations for Rose Bowl events, but street clear of this place. Tire marks several feet from the greens, parking spots on the fairways, a good 25 percent of the course is pure dirt, or swampy/muddy. All this for 70 bucks. I just got lucky and got a giftcard for the round. I would suggest Eaton Canyon. It's in much better condition.
It was a fun course, but it would have been nice to know it was shorter
Went out with a golfing buddy and was excited to play a round. Paid, went to the first tee, only to find out they were seeding the tee boxes. This made the course substantially shorter. It’s already a par 70 so it was way shorter than expected. There were a number of drivable par 4’s, which are fun for your score, but not when you pay full price for a full course.
The greens were also punched which would have been nice to know. There was a ton of inconsistency on the putting green. Some moving much slower and some really fast.
All in all, the facilities were cool, parking was no problem, the people working there were nice, the golf carts had GPS, and the flags were easy to range find. I would play again, but would call beforehand to see if they are seeding or punching as that changed the whole experience.
Rain + Easter = Empty Course
Course was practically empty when we tee’d off. Played as a twosome w/ one group in front and no one behind us. It was a good round except for the flooded first hole hole and some water logged spots on the course. Can’t be too picky especially after the rain.
Always a pleasure
I’ll start off by saying brookeside 1 is a staple for me for muni golf in Southern California. Unfortunately I don’t recall seeing anything about aeration when booking. I am not blaming anyone as I could have easily missed it when booking. But had 7 temporary greens but the course otherwise was in fantastic shape
Tight course
While beautifully surrounded with great views and the Rose Bowl, the layout is tight and lacking terrain or design. There was a lot of debris from trees and little to no water in the design. Very flat fairways with greens so steep with odd pin placements that send your ball back to your putter at twice the speed you delivered it. I’m glad I played there, but I would t repeat. Locals indicated very good member pricing and benefits.
Fun layout, very long!
First time playing this course, had a great time. Found it very fun, and very long...it's actually 100 yds longer than Pebble Beach!
