It's off the beaten path, but worth the trip
I was looking to play a quick morning round before work and found an 8:12 tee time. Since I've played other courses in Lake Wales I thought I had a pretty good idea how long it would take to get down there. Well, this is about 20 miles outside of town, so I was 15 minutes late for my tee time.
But, they got me out on the back nine with three folks who knew the course. In general, the course is flat (it's Florida, no surprise there) and you can see where you need to be hitting, but, it was nice to know when there were creeks crossing the fairway.
Water is mostly lateral, with no forced carries. The bunkers are flat enough you could putt out of many. A couple of doglegs make position off the tee for an approach an important consideration, so course management is required. Fairways are usually generous so you can move the ball according to your shot shape. A lot of invasive grass growing in on the greens, but no dead spots (in spite of our recent drought), and though the greens are slow they are consistent, so you can adjust to them.
I will come back and try the 19th hole at some point. A course worth playing a few more times!
Average course at best.
The golf carts looked brand spanking new. Staff was very laid back and friendly. Pace of play was a little slow. Greens were slow and had clover weeds trying to grow through them. I bought the tee time on golfnow.com. However the course is only worth the sale price. I wouldn’t pay full price to play this course.
Not worth any price.
Laughable, goat pasture. I don't know how other reviews are wrong? Not worth the money. Staff was pleasant tho.
For the price it was fine. Greens are really pretty bad as are the fairways. However it was only $21 with a cart so I didn’t expect much better
Our Round
This was a very nice course. Is somewhat out of the way but had great price and very friendly staff, Pace of play was better than most of the courses in and around Orlando 18 holes in less than 4 hours following a foursome. Greens fast and undulated quite large, Lots of water but also wide fairways. Recommend highly
1st time
Nice course. Friendly staff. Greens could use some help.
