A Good Course That Gets The Little Things Right
The Championship course at Crosswinds Golf Club is a good course but it’s not going to knock your socks off. What Crosswinds does right is the little things that a lot of courses in its class don’t.
Let’s start with the course itself which is a perfectly fine, inoffensively designed track. The fairways are kept nice and open, nary a soul will complain that the greens are either too quick or too slow; even the slopes and breaks are kept subtle yet apparent. Hazards like water and sand are present enough to add a good bit of character but aren’t overbearing. A lot of the holes sort of, kind of run together but there’s a decent amount of memorable ones as well.
Course conditions are another place where the emphasis has been placed correctly. Ok, so some of the bunkers look a little shabby and a few of the tee boxes are a bit firm. But contrast that with fairways that are well groomed and weed-free and greens that roll smoothly and with hardly a ball mark to be found.
The staff had the biggest impact on my first round of golf in the state of Georgia. Incredibly friendly people and you can tell they put a lot of thought in making your experience a good one. They have the fast, electric golf carts lined up by the practice green ready to go, and in my cart I found two bottles of water dunked in ice in the attached cooler. That’s a touch of exceptional service I’ve encountered only at courses costing twice as much. And if those bottles aren't enough for you, they have a cooler by the 14th hole with more and I even saw my first refreshment cart girl of the year here.
In terms of value, my $40 Sunday morning round was priced about right for the course that it is, but the staff definitely make you feel like you got more for your money; this course is a good value.
I had a lot of options to choose in the Savannah area for golf, but for the price I paid, I doubt I could have done much better than Crosswinds.
Good course for under $100
We enjoyed the course layout, contours, dog legs and challenges for our skill level as High 80s low 90s players. We would play it again next time we’re in Savannah. We live up in Toronto.
One of the better courses in the area
This is the second time I’ve played this course and it was enjoyable. The fairways were very good and greens were nice except for a couple of holes had some bad spots. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you decide to play a round there
Great layout.
Very nice course design. Generous fairways off the tee allows you to take a good aggressive swing. Fairways and tee boxes in good condition. Greens were disappointing...bumpy with patches of weed-like grasses sporadically visible on many holes. Pins should be cut away from the patches. Also, dry burned out spots on many greens. Very enjoyable layout with a variety of holes allows you to use every club. By the way the airport really isn't intrusive, does not effect performance. Its actually pretty cool watching the planes come in. Read about the club before you play, if airplanes interfere with your ability to play...don't go there. Enjoyed the round.
Crosswinds GC
Very nice layout, far amount of water and bunkers.
Enjoyed the round
Played this on the way to rbc heritage …. Staff was great - course was good - a couple of greens on front nine were a bit chewed up but really enjoyed it …. Price was outstanding

Great course.
I had not played the course for quite some time due to knee problems. Trey was very welcoming, and remembered me from my previous visits. I was able to use a handicap cart, and it made for a very enjoyable game. The course was in excellent condition and the staff was terrific. I highly recommend the course for those, who like me, don't mind the wind and the airplanes. As a side note, the cart girl was very nice and respectable to the players.

Visitor to the Area
I was visiting from Ohio had had heard that Crosswinds was a very well maintained course with a fair amount of challenge. I really enjoyed the round and the course didn't disappoint. Be prepared, you are playing under the glidepath for the airport.

Impressed very much by the course. The course itself and the people. Super value for your money. Don’t waste your time with The Club at Savannah Harbor. This was twice the course for much less money
