Nice layout, great shape no cart girl and hitched was closed due to a outing? But overall a very pleasant experience
Challenging but fair links course
Played on Father’s Day with a friend. Never had to wait on the tees. Course in great shape. Challenging links course with a lot of natural undulation and mounds. Devilishly placed traps. Undulating greens. Despite this, course played fair. My playing partner and I both played to our handicaps. Can’t wait to play the course again.
Not much has changed, that’s a good thing.
The course was in great condition after all the rain. The greens are always a pleasure to putt on. This is my first time back in well over 2 years. They’ve made some changes, So far, so good..
Very fun but daunting challenge
Tee boxes -- You could find mostly flat ground on most tee-boxes, plenty of clean spots to hit from with very few visible divots. A few narrow windows to hit, course played very long from blue tees, which measured at about 6,650 yards, but played longer with lack of rollout on many fairways and only a couple holes with helping wind.
Fairways -- Several had huge slopes to them, with mounds of rough usually right in the line of sight from the tee box, you're not usually hitting straight down the fairway here. Most of the grass in the fairways was cut very nicely and was pretty healthy, tons of good lies.
Rough -- Thick with gnarly ruts, holes, and various lengths of grass. You could advance the ball out of the rough usually, but you will face a severe uphilll/downhill/sidehill lie in the rough, which is essentially a double penalty.
Greens -- Legitimately some are as sloped as you would find at Augusta -- unbelievable undulations and elevations changes, false fronts, plateaus, peanut shaped greens, a postage stamp, and a couple that were 50 yards long. A few holes =in the front had very fast putts down hill and slow up-hill. Most of the back 9 played a little slower, I would guess approximately a 10 on the stimp. Holes were not cut super wide with defined edges, easy to miss putts by a inch here.
#14 -- This is an absolutely ridiculous par 3. The day I played it was 213 yards to the pin, the green is approximately 80 feet above the tee box, and since you're teeing off from a little gulch in a neighborhood, the prevailing wind is straight down that valley into your face. This hole played nearly 250 yards, and the green was so easy picnic, with the pin tucked in a slopey corner near trouble and downhill from the safe landing area. Perhaps on a sunny day from a different tee box with no wind and a friendly pin it wouldn't be such a bear, but today it was one of the hardest holes I've ever played. I drove pin high (with driver) in left rough, chipped it down a steep slope to rough on huge slope near bunker, pitch it back out to 12 feet and two-putted for double and felt decent about it.
I play off approximately a 10 handicap and shot an 88, which I wasn't upset about for my first time playing the course, with several blind shots, not knowing which way the fairway was actually going, and having no experience with the greens or where to miss.
Will return as this is a great test of golf, with many forced carry tee shots, long par 3s and par 5s, minimal tree coverage, and a variety of short game shots presented to you, you could really build up your rolodex of golf shots.
Lederach
We were the only ones on the course so can't complain about pace of play. Overall course was fun greens in great shape, they have a lot of undulations in them, no real straight forward putts, so that was a challenge. Very long par 5 625 yards + uphill, that was fun. Guy in clubhouse was very rude and we seemed to a nuisance to him, other than that was a fun but cold day of golf.
Challenging but Greens are Perfect
This was my first time playing. The course layout is stellar. The greens were fast, but also challenging with the hills. Very worth the price
Water and wet everywhere
Which I had known that they were flushing the water out of their sprinkler system. Spraying water everywhere we hit our ball. On the green at hole 6 and the worker turn on the sprinkler and soaked our cart and golf bag.
Great way to end season
70 degree wearher.. course in great shape.. love they added senior rees.
Good challenge, Good food
We played on a cold windy day, and I’ve played here before but not in over a year. I find the holes are varied and challenging. The wet cold weather had the greens longer and slower but that’s expected for this weather. It was appreciated this cold blustery day.
My first time guests enjoyed the course and we all thought the food to be very good. I believe to be a top course in eastern Pa. if not farther. Take my word on this, when the weather isn’t soggy like it has been this year, these greens are tough and some of the fairways slant towards danger.
I marked speed of play as average. That’s because although few of us were on here this day. It’s usually slow play due to the difficulty and locals insist on playing and finding every ball. But still one you should play in good weather at least once. Then Go eat.
Great course
Great play layout is friendly even when it has houses throughout . It’s been raining for ever so course was wet but still perfectly fine to play on awesome conditions and carts are awesome
Friday afternoon with the girls
The course was nice. Greens are challenging with many undulations but not very fast. Pace of play was good - we could see the group on front of us and behind us but no one was pushing the other. Did not stay for dinner so not sure how the restaurant was.
Love the course
Lederach is one our favorite courses, we drive an hour just to play here, yesterday we had a great round but sadly enough mother nature messed it up in the last few holes and we couldn't finish the round. But this is one of most amazing places, the staff is awesome, the bar is awesome, the food is great. If anyone wants to have fun playing a great round - this is it!!
Enjoyed
I like this course layout and mostly well maitained but green speed was not best.
