All around easy course
All around a easy, fun course that most the proceeds go to help the veterans so I’m ok with paying for what it is. They said they’re going to stop using golfnow though so that kind of sucks. Pace of play is usually slow or very very slow ( veterans on site get to walk for free ) but they are supposed to let you play through. I would recommend playing it though if you’re looking for a place that doesn’t require a tee time.
Great
Course is a very relaxing course. Just right for me.
Perfect course for me
Nice course to play since I'm a very average golfer.
VA brings value
Randy does a good job trying to keep things exciting and trying new things. The night golf on Friday nights has been great the last couple of years. Also, they are the only course in the area on golf now, which helps cut the cost per round. My ONLY two complaints about the course...
1) #3 should be the "signature" hole of the course. Challenging Par 3 with a sloped tough green over a pond. The fact that it has been years since the old tee box has been used hurts the course.
2) Pace of Play can really be a challenge here. With only 9 holes it can tend to get backed up during peak hours. Also, people RARELY allow others to play through.
Better Find Another Place
Not a good experience on a very old and rundown course. I would say the price was decent, but why waste your time. It is a nine hole course that is listed as 18. Very crowded with walkers who will not even consider letting you play through. The proshop is staffed with rude people, who really don't care if you play there or not. This course is located on the VA property, and used to be a VA golf course, now leased to someone else. It is a wide open course, with few hazards, and no water. The tee boxes are like cement, and the fairways are not kept up. Surprisingly the greens were not too bad. Even for $16 I would rather just go to a driving range. I have never seen so many unfriendly rude golfers in one place at one time.
Great place
Very friendly people great price can't be beat other players are nice as well
Review
See ratings above for course details. Self explanatory.
Not What I Hoped It Would Be
My dad and I arrived at about 20 minutes before our tee time (9am). When we arrived we quickly realized that the rough and fairways were no distinguishable from one another from the roadside. The parking lot is small and the exterior of the "clubhouse/office" is quite poor as well as the interior. We reserved a tee time through golfnow.com and when we told the man working there he said that they don't take reservations and didn't know what golfnow was. I explained to him and even showed him the website on my phone showing that people can make reservations for the course through the site.
I finally convinced him, with help of another person who I think was a staff member, that the reservation and the price difference was correct.
My pulled out my bank card and he stated that they don't take cards, cash only. Luckily I had cash on me but after playing I wished I hadn't.
The tee boxes on every hole had the same length of grass as the rough...and the fairways. The only part of the course that had been mowed was the greens/fringe but they were still mowing greens as late as 9:45 in the morning.
The course layout was decent enough but nothing was too difficult to deal with in terms of difficulty/hazards.
Positives:
Course Layout
Decent Greens(once mowed)
Negatives:
Condition of tees & fairways(which were no different from the rough)
Staff (lady mowing was impeding play of another group, slowing down the rate of play on a busy day)
Cart had almost no brakes
nice little course
very nice setup, friendly staff ,fairways need work.
Great time and course
We had a great time!!!! Good overall course for my skill level.
Good course fo the average golfer
Have played this course many times. It won't beat
you up. Wide fairways, no forced carries, greens not the best ok. No elevation changes makes it a great course for walking. Well worth the price they charge.
Got a great deal from Golf Now, but normal prices are excellent. This is a fun course !!!!
Great beginner/intermediate course.
It has flat fairways and not a lot of traps. The only thing is the cut of the fairway at times is a little rough. Other than that it is a great course to play at.
