Solid popular course
This was my 2nd time on the 18 hole course. It is a longtime favorite in the Hart-Silver lake area..just off Hwy.31. It is a very challenging course with rolling farways, and undulating greens..along with its share of trees and bunkers. Thankfully not much water on the course. A nice patio next to the driving range..and current operator of the bar and grill are running a nice place.
A Revisit
I had played this course a good number of years ago and recalled leaving it very unimpressed, particularly regarding it's condition and upkeep. So I was somewhat hesitant to try it again, but that was a long time ago and the price was super, so I decided to give another try. Glad I did - was pleasantly surprised this time and am glad we played it.
Not bad for the money
First impression not great when you see yahoo's showing up to play in cargo shorts and tshirts. Then we had to warm up on horrible mats. The course itself was not bad. Greens are soft and roll a little slow. The front nine was much shorter than the back. The carts were a little rough
You have to play this GEM
On vacation camping at Silver Lake and looked on GOLFNOW for a place to play and from the reviews Colonial was the place to play. From the first tee to the 18th it was a great track to play and it was all for $20 with a hot deal. If you ever get to the Hart Michigan area you really need to make it a point to tee it up at the colonial, what a GEM.
very nice course and staff
Nice course very friendly staff will definitely return for more good golf
Course is in great shape
One of the best maintained golf course in the area. The greens are quick and roll great. Fairways are pristine. In addition, they have some of the best rates around. Best value for the money in this part of West Michigan. The burger in the bar after the round is a great deal!!
Great Course!
The course is in the best shape I have ever seen it in! I have been playing there at least five times a year for the past 5 years and it looks awesome!
Wonderful
It is in amazingly good condition with a great design of the course. I will play it again next time I visit this area next year.
One of the best!
Great golf course. For the value, one of the best courses I've EVER played.
Colonial Weekend
The day was extremely hot, course was in nice shape, play was very slow due to individuals, not number of golfers. No course manager or food/beverage cart on a day it would be nice. Water around course was very cold, plenty.
Horrible service
Pace of play was worst I have ever seen. Took 3 hours for 8 holes. Clubhouse says its like that anywhere on a Friday morning. Also he said why am I complaining that it's bad when I didn't even pay full price. Never again will I give that place a chance. Glad I drove an hour for nothing. Didn't even get to golf the back nine. No gift card.. No rain check.. Just a laugh in my face ..
Wonderful experience
First time golfing this course, was pleasantly surprised. Excellent conditions, very well manicured and clean, fairly forgiving fairways,, would highly recommend it
Love this course
Great looking course. Nicely kept fairways and greens. It is open but IMO, plays harder than it looks, which I like. Very friendly staff and allows me to bring my younger kids with little to no cost. I live local and play it several times a year, but I have family and friends from Detroit who want to play here whenever they come up.
Why not
Great people nice course lots of dog leg s for you fade hitters
Greens were in great shape.
I had a great time and the greens made it a fun challenge. I will play there again and recommend to all my friends.
Colonial experience
Got a great price on Golfnow but even without it is a terrific coarse for the money. The greens are huge and fairways great, no need for 'rolling your ball' there. The first nine was played fast with just the two of us , the back was torture following a 4 some that were the slowest I have played behind in years.
Worth the travel
Course is in great shape from the tee boxes to the greens. Pace of play was good for a Sunday afternoon. Had two short enjoyable delays as deer with fawns crossed our fairways. The Colonial has an above than average bar and restaurant with a wonderful staff. Excited to play here again...
Great condition
This course is very well kept, if it was closer to Grand Rapids it would be a $65-85 course! Can't say enough good things about the condition of the whole course! Bunkers were edged fairways were beautiful and greens were fast. My only complaint was pace of play, it played very slow at the time I went which was a random Wednesday afternoon.
colonial lives up to it's reputation
i have driven by the colonial dozens of times, never had a chance to play it till this spring.we got a fantastic hot deal on golf now, showed up a bit early and the staff got us right out without a wait.they had two dollar beers and one dollar hotdogs as well.the weather was very damp and foggy when we started, but warmed up nicely.i had always heard the colonial was known for great course conditions, and it did not dissapoint.the greens were smooth, slightly difficult and rolled wonderfull,.fairways cut great, just a really nice course and i had the best round of the year so far...well worth the drive!
Great Course
My family and friends who come to visit love playing at the Colonial. Course is fun, staff is super nice, and cant beat the price.
