Great bang for the buck
To start the staff is friendly and will try their best to accommodate their guests. The course is well maintained and green putt true.
This is the course I choose to take out of area guests.
6 inches of rain in the area last week and the course was in great shape.always a pleasure to play here
Beautiful in the Fall
This course is within a beautiful forest setting and the colors were starting to appear. It must be beautiful at peak season. We liked how the course was laid out, that each hole had it’s own setting and you rarely saw other p,Ayers. This course was in excellent condition. The only problem we had was knowing where the tee box was located. The markers were either missing or laying on the ground and hard to find. The staff at the course are very accommodating and helpful.
Course was great shape!! Some hidden ravines on a couple holes and greens rolled true. A little out of the way but would definitely play again!!
Storm rolled through the night before with a lot of rain and the course was in really good shape.the greens were firm and fast
very nice golf course. 1 and 2 get your attention right away, shooting over a hazard. Course is not long, but offer challenges.. It was fun to play
A nice lay out@ a good price.
I always enjoy this course. The staff are friendly and the course is very good condition.
Outstanding golf experience!
My brother in law and I have played this course many times now. It is by far my one of my favorite golf courses to play in Michigan. The golf course is in great condition, challenging, but fair and very fun to play. The setting is beautiful! After golf, the clubhouse and grill will satisfy even the greatest food critic. Awesome selection of food and brew in a great setting. Service is excellent and the staff is top notch and friendly. If you love golf and have not played Stone Gate yet, get it on your schedule, you will not be disappointed! My bet is it will become one of your favorites too!
Layout is nice. Rolling contour. Pace of play was poor. Long wait on every tee for first nine. Little improved on back.
Hello. Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to best control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve, and we are glad to see you rated the course conditions to be great during your game. Thank you for playing Stonegate Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Pesky Mosquitoes / Biting Flys
This is a golf course that is somewhat over looked as a fun course to play. Well maintained, conditions are above average with other public courses in the area. However, be advised if it a wet or cloudy day the biting insects can wreak havoc on you. Ouch!! Other than that really nice place to play.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Greens roll true and are well maintained.
Always enjoy playing here coz the course is in very good shape.the greens are firm and fast
The course was modified which changed #7 to a par 3 and I believe #18 to a short par 5. I would like to see # 7 changed back to it’s original par four, keeping 18 as a par 5 because it’s a great finishing hole. Even though this would create a total par of 73, I believe it would help keep the original character of the course.
Best Course in Muskegon Area
Course is in phenomenal condition! Pro and all of the staff are top notch professionals. Great place to hold an outing. The staff literally does everything for you from setting up the signs to the restaurant staff.
Worth the drive ...
Nice course that is kept in great shape year round.
Challenging layout with only one hole that just doesn't fit, for me, #10 being a short par 4 that seems to have been wedged into place. Huge sloping (to the left) fairway with a severely elevated green guarded by bunkers down below.
Greens, tees, fairways and rough were all in great shape when I played, and most bunkers were decent with a few needing attention. Course was empty (weekday-mid morning) and I played solo in just over 2 hours 10 minutes, playing through one foursome of local members on Hole #6.
Although built in a sub-division with homes on some holes, the course has a good 'Northern Michigan' feel to the layout. A bit of a drive to get to, but worth the trip.
Nice modern layout. Greens rolled very nicely, not overly fast. Well groomed course from tee to green. Nice bunkers with consistent sand throughout.
A hidden gem.
Only issue was with all of the bugs, not sure if they spray for insects but bugs were very thick, even with bug spray several shots were less than perfect due to getting surrounded by mosquitoes, mayflies, and nats.
Would be a very cool course to play in the fall with all of the hardwoods that surround the course.
Always a pleasure playing Stonegate,by far the best course in the area.greens were firm and fast
