Old Marsh Country Club
About
Situated near the Webhannet River and just minutes from the ocean, Old Marsh Country Club started as swampy marshland before being transformed into a traditional, Florida-style golf course set amongst a beautiful coastal landscape. The challenging layout demands strategy and will definitely test your skills, but the more difficult elements are balanced by generous landing areas. Keeping the ball towards the center of the fairway is the key to many of the holes or else you'll be met with tricky hazards. The seventh hole, named "Pinehurst," is a particularly memorable hole. Designed as an homage to the famous North Carolina course's putting surfaces, this par-4 requires you to keep your ball in play off the tee to a circular landing area before a second shot to an undulating green.

Old Marsh
Everything was fine. No complaints. The course was in average condition. I have played other courses in better condition for less money. Not much of a deal.
Course in nice condition
Fun round. Greens were nice. Great or last minute round local access.
First TIme at Old Marsh
Course was in very good shape. Short but forgiving. Last minute decision instead of trying to get a beach day in. Convenient location and a decent value through Golfnow the night before.
Playable and Walkable
Old Marsh is two different courses in my opinion. I enjoy playing it in the spring and fall because it is a walkable course, that is fairly priced and is not all that busy. In the summer I have found it much busier due to the tourist season and a little pricey. I know how a business needs to make money, so I understand. The course is a great layout with a variety of holes. It is all quite flat and is built in and around a former marsh. At first housing was only on a few holes, but now several holes on the back 9 have homes close to the action. The front 9 is totally uninhabited at this time. I truly enjoy the 5th hole, a slight dogleg left, with a redan green that makes judging your approach shot very challenging. The 7th hole has a green with a false front and fall away sides, that is also fun to hit into. The 18th is a great finishing par 4, that with the prevailing wind is hard to hit in 2 shots. The course is not long from the tips by today's standards, about 6500. Forward tees take much of the trouble out of play. The conditions at Old Marsh are usual excellent, but like many other New England courses this past winter wreaked havoc on the grass and Old Marsh was struggling to recover. I am sure things have gotten better there with the arrival of summer. There are not a whole lot of frills and ancillary service at Old Marsh. Rarely is there a starter to monitor the 1st tee which is a 300 yard walk from the pro shop. I have never seen a ranger, so there have been times one slow group has killed the pace of play with no one to speed them up. OM is right on the Maine Turnpike southbound, where you can see a few of the front 9 holes, but it is a 10 minute roundabout drive off the Wells exit to find it. I would recommend it to golfers of any skill set as long as you play the correct set of tees.
very nice lay-out
intimidating first time out , but after playing once
challenging but enjoyable
